^ You can tell this person doesn't watch YouTube.....

There's a video where he gave a tour of Microsoft Xbox HQ.

It's an Xbox One console. Even though it's a major hardware revision, it's not (by Microsoft's standards) a next gen console. It has USB ports. Thus it should work.

  5. a quick browse of youtube quickly demonstrates not everything you see there is reliable lol, so his comment was a fair one...

  6. And I learned my lesson and did today. Not MN that required to have youtube account on first I tried, to confirm age.

Anyway, found a official demo from microsoft how to fast as possible prepare for X1X and move games to external hdd etc.

Also options to prepare with 4k content if you feel like it - saving time once having X1X by you - just plugin hdd and off you go with settings and everything.

But - i big but - same gen console does not imply the games are code compliant - meaning that same hardware coding of games fits right in.

Game rendering engines may bypass certain parts of OS to gain performance and similar. Game developers made more efficient code than DX 11/12 has for certain operations and expect a certain hardware and certain registers available on certain addresses in
hardware. So to get those extra fps for a game developers take various routes - with a risk involved(used to be same hardware throughput a gen, but with X1X different).

So therefore I wanted more official statements on this - and found it.

One big IF is still there though - did they enhance 360 BC to also run from original code with some compatibilty settings etc - not needing full download of 360 games all over, if having on disk?

The 360 emulator on X1 as I found it on Dirt 3 was that a little too much delay in response to what you did on controller.

  7. Microsoft has stated that all current gen stuff... software and hardware will be compatible so however developers do things it would have to comply would that...

    So fingers crossed lol

I'm crossing my arms and anything else available too. XBox One X and external drive :D

I hope for massive success of X1X. the future of Xbox depend on it.

Just compare some problems people had with some Boost mode in PS4 Pro - not the enhanced mode for Pro, just the simplest thing to adapt to, native clock frequency.

It's supposed to just use higher clock frequency like Pro enhanced(similar to X1S compared to X1) - and get some more fps.

Many PS4 gamers said they tried it, but got various freeze problems etc and reverted to standard mode and that were ok.

But officially it should be compatible.

So in itself, timing issues can occur even for X1 and X1S, but for X1X five times TFLOPS I see even higher potential risk.

Microsoft has a lot greater knowhow from PC and how to build OS as such than sony - so hope for no problem.

There are X1 games being released since 4 years back - no shortcuts anywhere by developers?

Some really struggling to get fps up on Xbox.

It's like support agent conversation I've had contacting a company on a product I bought:

    Support agent:

    - it should work!

    Me:

    - but it doesn't here

    ...and on the conversation goes...

I bought non-original brand batteries for a camera, and it simply did not fit into the camera.

Many, many, many emails later they refunded me.

So official statements and assumptions is one thing - reality can be another thing.

I remember from the early days of PC and first PC clones that came out(1980's) that had 10 MHz clock instead of IBM original 8 Mhz. Many games ran on like steroids, so timing stuff supposed to delay a certain amount became scewed. So you had to use keyboard
combination to adjust clockrate when running certain games. Just one example.

It should work. And if you're external drive which works on Xbox One doesn't work on the flashy X console, it's Microsoft's fault because it will clearly be a software issue, not a hardware issue. Xbox One X has the same/similar 64 bit processor as the original
XB1. The X has USB ports, just like the XB1 [original]. It's like when Xbox One launched November. It has USB ports but no external HDD support - software issue. Now it's fixed for the original and S models.

I will be getting the X on 7/11/2017. So I'll be getting a $5 pair of white gloves and a YouTube video of it (thanks for being a role model Microsoft) and doing an unboxing and hands on, of it. Looking forward to it! The X releases next month. Yay.

Your external hard drive will work perfectly with Xbox One X.

    Hard Drive Question

The Xbox One X has a 7200rpm internal hdd - Xone and S use 5200rpm. This makes little difference running games, but, but initial loads may be slightly slower on an external 5200 drive compared to the internal drive of the X, but
    it depends on the game.

I'm getting an Xbox One X and I still intend to use my 1TB external drive for a while yet as it worked fine on my original Xbox One.

XBox One X and external drive

It was confirmed last night that any current external hard drive will work with the Xbox One X, however you may want to consider moving some of the games you play often over to the Xbox One X internal hard drive as it will probably load games quicker from
internal HDD than your external one.
