Xbox one X and Epson 5040UB HDR10 for gaming.

So me and my father just got the xbox one X and have it hooked up straight to the hdmi1 port on the projector and we cannot get HDR10 to work. The checklist says it doesn't support it even though i read that the projector can support HDR10 BT 2020 and i
even selected it in the projector settings as well.

On the xbox one x we have 4k 10 bit with all check marks except 3d selected.

We also updated the firmware on the projector to the latest version and nothing.

    Any ideas?

    :)

Epson 5040UB : Your TV setup doesn't support HDR10 for gaming. Games won't be shown in HDR

    Hi,

I received my new Xbox One X today but found out that the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 5040UB is not being recognized by XBOX as a compatible device that can run HDR10 gaming.

    But, this projector definitely supports HDR10 ( BT.2020 ).

Also, YouTube's videos cleary shows Epson 5040UB running 4k HDR games on PS4 PRO.

So why Xbox One X games can't be shown in HDR while PS4 PRO can ?

Is this something that will be fixed soon with firmware update ?

I think the solution would be to allow HDR10 with 1080p displays, since this projector uses 4k enhancement technology., that's why PS4 did, and hope XBOX can do it as well.

    Thank you.

Having the same issue, Epson 5040ub w/ Xbox One S, HDR isn't working on anything (UHD, Netflix, games) despite receiver and all cables being HDMI 2.0a / 4K HDR supported spec.

There is mention of this on the avsforum.

Here is the quote and link if you are interested:

I spoke to one of the senior technical gurus at Epson. Several days ago I alerted them to the fact that the Samsung UBD-8500 was not passing 10 or 12bit, and only Rec709. The guy who I spoke to today said because of that they went and purchased the Xbox
One S, Samsung, and Phillips. As I stated yesterday, and now confirmed by Epson, the Phillips is the only player capable of doing 10/12bit. The Rec.2020 is only a container for the P3 color space. The Epson cannot natively do Rec.2020. When the Epson receives
HDR, it converts it to the HDR2 preset, which is for P3 color space for the Digital Cinema setting. However, manually switching to HDR1 preset in Bright Cinema mode gives you P3 color space. Bright Cinema mode is best for HDR. The partial 12bit in the manual
refers to it dithering 10bit signal to 12bit. Many current TVs that advertise HDR are 8bit that dither to 10bit. All in all, I am very happy with the capabilities of this projector.

To receive hdr on the epson 5040 navigate on the Xbox one s to settings>>>display and sound>>>video output>>>advanced video settings>>>and select the item "allow YCC 4:2:2" which should place a check in the block. This enables the proper chroma sub sampling
that enables hdr on the epson 5040. If you do not have this option you must update your Xbox one s to the latest version which is 10.0.15063.1003 which was released on 3/21/17. It works only with 4K blu ray and not through apps such as Vudu, Netflix and Amazon

Has anyone verified that this works? I am considering purchasing the epson 5040 or 6040 but cannot until I know this HDR issue is resolved as the last message by MasterChiefLgod seems to indicate.

    Thanks in advance!
I can verify that my Epson 5040 is receiving 4:2:2 HDR with 4K Blu-ray.
