Xbox One X, a 3 week Factory reset cycle

When I first upgraded to the very beefy Xbox One X, I was impressed with the boot time, load time, and 4k graphics.

Sadly, that only lasted a few weeks. Now the system is plagued with "gremlins". Apps will fail to launch (BluRay player, Netflix for example), Games will fail to launch (Monster Hunter World, Fallout 4), and Updates will fail and then DELETE the program
it was trying to update. (SRX1432041493ID is my current ticket number)

I've tried using Microsoft's 800 support, but the only thing they want to do is Factory reset the Xbox One X. Yes, this does resolve the issue at the moment, 2-3 weeks later they all return. The 800 staff blatantly are reading from scripts, with zero understanding
of the product they support once the issue deviates from those scripts. Sadly, for some reason, no matter how I try to press upon the "Techs" that a 3 week Factory Reset is not a valid resolution to this issue, they flatly refuse to escalate this issue.

    Current Issues:

Any update to any Game or App (remember updates are not optional) will stall while downloading/installing the update. When the update is Canceled, the Game or App will no longer show as installed (Both internal and externally stored software). This requires
the Xbox One X to be powered down, unplugged, perform a Factory Reset. The game/app to be fully downloaded and installed again. For games like MonsterHunterWorld or Fallout 4, that is several hours.

-I've currently moved all of my other installs to the External Drive to avoid reinstalling the full library every 3 weeks.

This has been verified with the following Games and Applications:

    Monster Hunter World

    Fallout 4 (and all DLC)

    Wolfenstein 2

    BluRay player

    Netflix

    HBOGo

    VUDU

I am using an Ethernet connection, to a broadband router, that is not double NAT'ed. The Network test will always pass, even before doing the Factory Reset (i.e. the timeout when downloading the update is not due to network issues).

I do not believe a 3 week Factory reset cycle is a valid resolution for a premium device like the Xbox One X.

    Thank you,

    :)

Hi! Please try these possible solutions on order to see if they fix the issue:

    1. Perform a power cycle:

Restart or Power Cycle Xbox One Console

    2. If the power cycle doesn't work, try to remove your profile from the console and download it again afterwards.

    3. If none of the above worked, do a factory reset with keeping your games and apps (so that you don't have to install them again):

To be honest I would say one of two options are your best choice. First, if its within the return time-frame at your retailer you purchased from I would exchange it. If not, open a support ticket and ship the X in for repairs since it sounds like a HDD
issue, but without a tech taking a look I couldn't tell you.

    Thanks Saeleth,

I picked up the One X at the end of April. So it is still within its first year, but beyond the 30day return to retailer window. The 800 support tech from last night made the passing comment that I could take it to a Microsoft store and trigger the exchange
there, but I'm not sure how accurate that statement was.

Before going to the MS store I would call so it isn't a wasted trip, but that may not be a bad idea. Worst case you can create a case ticket and ship it for free repair (I had to do that with mine), but one way or another it'll get corrected. Hang in there
man, if you need more assiatance please let us know!

I was actually able to take my defective Xbox One X to the Microsoft store and have it replaced.

I did come armed with all of my Support ticket numbers along with the Error code that caused me to own a 500$ brick. During the evening before's Factory Reset of the Xbox One X the device failed, restarted and threw a new error code and would no longer boot
    past the error.

While the Microsoft store did replace the device, I think the whole support experience should shed a light on how horrible their Support service really is. If I treated a client the why Xbox's 800 support handled my trouble tickets, I would be out of a
job. I've gotten better assistance via Comcast and AT&T.

    Thanks for the help Saeleth
