Xbox One X 4K pass thru?

I have a day 1 XB1. I just got a 4K TV and found out that it does not support 4K pass thru. I was thinking of upgrading to a XB1S, but saw it also does not support 4K pass thru. My question is now does the XBOX ONE X support 4K pass thru. I hope MS has
the ability to update the entire family of Xboxes to support 4K pass thru. I know it's a small thing, but my Xbox One is just my Xbox now, and enjoy running my TV thru my Xbox. I hate having to switch inputs on my AV receiver to go to my Xbox.

So will the XB1X support 4K pass thru?

The HDMI IN on the XBOX ONE / ONE S / ONE X are all just 1080P there is no 4K pass through on those consoles.

off running your 4k Sky Q into the TV directly. (the xbox is doing what it's designed to do)

Wrong... He's specifically asking if it will pass 4k from another device hooked up to the "IN" HDMI port.

HDMI 2.0 output, HDMI 1.4 input. It will not ever pass 4k.

 

When you say 4K pass through, are you talking about a 4K source sending the TV signal to the Xbox and then to the TV? Or sending the Xbox1 X 4K signal to pass through a 4K receiver and then to the 4K TV?

 

I can say 100% the new Xobx One X doe NOT support 4k pass through. I have no idea what MS is thinking, do they think people will invest thousands of dollars in equipment only to play games or movies. If I would have known I would not have purchased the xbox
one x, I would have kept my original xbox as the games I play are not in 4k anyway and waited till the designers got a clue to allow 4k pass through. So now with 4k DirecTv I can no longer run it directly through my xbox it has to go to a separate input on
my receiver. This may not seem like a big deal but when you get use to the Xbox managing your TV, split screen with TV and any other feature they have built in that is now useless it makes you wonder. It would be great if a patch fixed this but I have zero
hopes of that.

 

I agree completely with these thoughts.

In addition they could have added a second HDMI output for Audio only so that those with Non 4K AV receivers can still use the latest HD Audio formats such as Dolby Digital HD.

Would have thought this would have been easy for them to implement into the top-end Xbox.

 

The HDMI OUT on the xbox one X is HDMI 2.1 which supports 4k at 60hz and a couple more things.

The HDMI IN is HDMI 1.4 which only supports 1920x1080p at 60hz.

Sorry, this is a hardware limitation.
