XBox One X 1440p resolution at 120hz support For Monitors

Hello i am having some resolution issues here and have seen some others posting in regards. Can someone please look into this as the Xbox One X settings will change my settings to 1080p 120 hz when I select the 1440p 120hz option available when using my HDMI 2.0 port on the monitor utilizing a HDMI 2.0 cable: My monitor:

    Monoprice 27in Zero-G Gaming Monitor – 2560x1440p, WQHD, 144Hz, 1ms, FreeSync, HDR Support, 400nits, HDMI, DisplayPort

If someone can assist as this is very frustrating and leaning towards me not purchasing an Xbox series X if this is the case.

This is the actual monitor specs please read the port supports provided.

    https://downloads.monoprice.com/files/manuals/38576_Manual_190408.pdf

    support: HDMI 2.0: 50 ~ 144 Hz HDMI 1.4: 50 ~ 75 Hz DisplayPort 1.2: 50 ~ 144 H

I even tested the HDMI 2.0 port into my pc/windows 10 and in fact the resolution was set to 2560 x 1440p and I was able to toggle changes between 60hz, 75hz, 120hz, and 144hz with no problem and acceptance in the display settings.

    Thanks everyone!

    Error on xb1x selecting 4k

The Xbox One X supports 120hz only at 1440p and 1080p resolutions. It does not support 120hz at 4k. So unless your TV or monitor supports 1440p resolution (many don't), you will only get 1080p when selecting 120hz.

    Xbox Series X. 144Htz at 1440p

Many thanks for your response but I'm afraid you are mistaken. HDMI 2.0 has always supported 1440p at 120hz. Even the article you sent says this.

"The HDMI 2.0 connector was previously featured on Xbox One X and Xbox One S, with bandwidth limitations locking content to 4K resolution at 60Hz, or 1440p at 120Hz"

So my question remains How do I get 1440p at 120Hz on the xbox series X with the huawei mateview gt34 monitor that is capable of supporing this?

    Xbox series X - 1440p 144hz monitor

    Hi,

Do you have problems with getting your Xbox to use your display's 1440P resolution and 120Hz on this monitor?

Your monitor has a note in the manual that says:

    * When HDMI Compatibility Mode is on, 2560 x 1440 @ 120/144Hz resolution is not supported.

I would assume you should be able to get 120Hz at 1440P with this monitor connected to a Series X. But, as you've probably seen, the Xbox One can be really picky when it comes to monitors.

Monitor interest has gone up considerably since Microsoft released support for both 120Hz and FreeSync. The problem is getting a monitor that will use these features correctly over HDMI.

2k with 120hz XBOX ONE X not working with HP X27i

because that monitor supports 144hz but does not have 120hz as an option in the monitor edid for that resolution, pc can set manual resolutions, xbox cant and the monitor has to support or state it can do 120hz at 1440p in the edid for the xbox to use it.

xbox one x wont run at 125hz unless at 1080p

    Hi neversatisfied415,

I’m about 99% sure there is nothing wrong with your Xbox One. The supported resolution and refresh rate is 1080P/1440P @ 120hz. It wont go higher than that. As for that Dell monitor, on these forums I have come across people having issues with getting 120hz
over 1440P on that model. Could it be that the feature was not activated via firmware? Only Dell Support can help you there.

I have been thinking about a 1440P monitor for a while now and so far my research is pointing towards the Gigabyte models where the user manuals state support for 1440p/120hz. I am waiting to see what resolutions are supported by Series X and if we finally
    get 3440x1440 before commiting.

My suggestion is before committing to any 1440P monitor check the user manual to see if it clearly states support for 1440P/120Hz over HDMI. I would also be looking at newer released models of monitors (2019 onwards)
