    Xbox one won't update on initial set up


    My brand new, out of the box, xbox one will not update during the initial setup. Internet connection is fine, but keeps telling me that "an error has occurred" and that I need the update to use my machine. I can't get past this point to even play movies
    or play games off line. I know about the Lizard crap from Christmas but what is the issue now? I thought that was over. Is anyone else having this issue?

    XBOX one initial set up.

    Have you set your time zone go into settings/system there you can select your time zone

    D3ath Prone- thanks, but I have already tried the trouble shooting. I stopped short of doing the manual updates.

    Xbox one won't update on initial set up

    I'm having the exact same issue. It says on the dashboard that the machine needs to be sent in for repairs. Ive done all but the offline troubleshooting (usb) ive talked to a couple techs but they don't seem to know what to say short of returning it. Not
    an option now. Wireless is good. Just says there was a problem with the update and that's all.

    I have done the offline update, with no luck as well. still stuck in the initial setup page with no resolve. has anyone found a fix for this?

    A workaround for this is to use a wired Ethernet connection for the initial setup and update.
    It seems to work fine that way. Then once you have done the initial setup you can go back to a Wi-Fi connection if you like.

    Can you do a reboot press your console button for 8 seconds then power up and try again.
