Xbox One won't turn on consistently

My Xbox One does not turn on consistently. I try using the voice command, turning it on with the controller, and straight from the console. Sometimes I have to unplug it and plug it back in before it will turn on. I had it plugged into a power strip now
it is plugged directly into the outlet and this is still happening. I've run out of solutions other than unplugging it and plugging it back in then hoping it will turn on. After it is on everything works fine and it doesn't turn off randomly or anything
    like that.

Is this happening to anyone else or does anyone have a solution?

    :)

    Xbox One won't turn on?

I returned home from college about a week ago and tried to turn on my Xbox One, and it failed to start. I did some research, and was lead to believe that it was an issue with the power supply - I would turn the Xbox on, the button would light up, and the
console would play the "On" sound. However, instead of a solid white, the light on the power brick would blink orange and white. This would be also accompanied with some intermittent humming/buzzing from the power brick. This would happen for a few seconds
    before stopping completely.

I tried "hard resetting" by holding the power button for 10 seconds, and I also replaced the power supply entirely, none of which helped.

The last time it worked for me was shortly after Thanksgiving - I updated the console and actually left to go back to school before it finished - maybe it shut down mid-update? Or the update itself caused this problem?

But yeah, my main question is, having already replaced the power supply, is this definitely a hardware issue or did I miss something? And if it IS bricked, what can I do? I tried registering the console on the Xbox website - that didn't work, and any warranty
is probably expired by now anyways.

    Thanks so much

I have resorted to turning off the instant on option. I went into the power settings and changed it to energy save mode. I don't have any trouble turning on the xbox anymore but now I cant use the voice command to turn it on... at least it works consistently
    now.

I'll probably have to resort to that as well. I talked to them on their chat and they insisted it had to do with my NAT which I figured that is not the case but I went through with opening and forwarding the correct ports. Even after that it still persists.

G'day all! I have a couple of things for you to try:

    1. If your console is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, plug it directly into a wall outlet instead.
    2. If it's already plugged directly into the wall outlet, try a different outlet. This is a temporary solution.
If either of those solve the power-on issue, then something in the electrical system (either the power strip or wall outlet) is preventing the console from receiving the full amount of power it requires.

Give it a go, and please let us know your results!

I'm having the same problem, and mine has been plugged into the wall (2 different places) and into a surge protector, with identical results.

    Misses Joust,

Like DoogieSF, I have tried all of that since that's what other threads have suggested, with no luck. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for trying those steps, guam and Doogie. I have another idea for you two to try, but I fully understand if you're not able to:

If a friend or family member also has an Xbox One console, see if you can borrow their power supply (temporarily!) to use on your console. See if the same behavior continues. If the power issue doesn't return, then we can confirm that the issue lies within
your power supply and we can set up replacement orders.

However, if your console continues to behave the same way with the different power supply, then the issue may be with the console itself. Please let us know if you're able to try this; and what the results are.

I'm having the same problem with my audio receiver. It works like a quarter of the time. I think it's just because it doesn't have a clear view of the sensor to turn it on.

Can you define the symptoms a little bit better? When you press the power button, does the light on the console go on? Do you see any HDMI signal? Is it just a blank screen?

Xbox makes a consistent beeping noise and won't turn on.

    Hello @IanCalder1!

With such issues, I would suggest preforming an offline system update. You can update your console using the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter. To bring up the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter, follow these steps:

    1. Power off your console, and then unplug the mains lead to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    2. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the mains lead back in.
    3. Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

Note The Xbox Series S and the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition do not have Eject buttons. You can bring up the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter on these consoles by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button.
    4. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.
    6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter.
    7. Plug the USB flash drive with the Offline System Update files into a USB port on your Xbox console. When the flash drive is inserted, the Offline system update option on the Xbox Start-up Trouble-shooter becomes active. Use the D-pad and A button on your controller to select Offline system update to initiate the update using the files saved on your flash drive.
When the update is complete, the console will restart and you should be returned to the Home screen. If this happens, your console is now up to date! You can remove the USB drive from your console.

If the update is not successful, go to the following section: What to do if the offline system update is not successful.

However, If the issue persist, it could be a hardware/internal issue which means that your console needs to be serviced. You can request a repair order for it here.

Make sure to keep us updated!

I hope this helps you out
