    People here are wrong. I had the same issue, but it is just a logical thing. If the hard drive is already formatted, it will assume you want to use it for videos, music, ect.

    So what you need to do is connect it to your computer, but not to format it again as people are saying here, but simply to REMOVE the existing partition and then you plug it back in and it will prompt you to format. Worked like a charm for me, give it a

    with xbox one out, i don't think a 500 gig hard drive will ever come out. too bad MS won't let 350 have external hard drives like they will let us have on xbox one next month. you can use a thumb drive if it's at least 8 gigs min to store data. you g=can
    store DLC for games you don't play as much or store XBLA games you rarely play.

    There is an alternative. If you have them stored on an external hard drive then remove the drive before doing the reset. The games will still be on the drive and you won't have to redownload them all

    Absolutely you can! Your Xbox will format it specifically for storing games, so you won't be able to also use it for your Time Machine backups, but you can use any USB 3.0 storage device over 128gb as an external game drive on your Xbox One.
