Xbox One won't reset to factory defaults.

Hello,

Over the past few weeks I have noticed a minor problem with my Xbox, which has spiraled into a much bigger one. Whenever there has been an update and the Xbox powers itself down and back on, I had come across a screen saying "Something
went wrong." My go-to fix would be powering it down, unplugging all the power cords, and turning it back on and the update would continue. With this update that came out an hour ago, I cannot get past the "Something went wrong screen." I have unplugged it
completely three times now to no avail. I finally resorted myself to trying to reset to factory defaults, but whenever I select it, the Xbox makes the power-down noise then immediately turns itself back on to the same screen. Does this mean I have to turn
it in for repair?

Rule out the connections first, try a different lead

different tv

different power socket

remove any third party devices connected

reboot the x1

Maybe a factory reset ?? if all fails

Sorry to hear about the console power issue, and thank you for the detailed post! You have tried most of the suggestions we would offer in this scenario, however do you happen to have a nearby friend or family member with an Xbox One console that can let
you borrow their power supply? If you own an original Xbox One console (not an Xbox One S) with the external power supply, see if trying a separate power supply helps out! If a different power supply does help, that will narrow down the issue to your power
supply and would need to be replaced.

If that doesn't work, or if you own an Xbox One S, your Xbox One console may need to be repaired. To begin that process, please head over to our
