    xbox one won't read my xbox 360 disc


    Hi

    I have been though xbox support chat, and I have been through a number of test to try and resolve the issue, cleared my xbox, updated offline, used a usb offline, cleared blu ray power cycled my xbox everything, see after all that the only option was to
    send off my console for repair, but the charge is £83 cause my console is out of warrenty, any xbox one games I put in work perfect and I have tried a number of backwards compatible disc on my sons xbox one and they work perfect on his, just my console doesn't
    want to read xbox 360 games on disc for some reason, so support have sent me here to see if you can waver the charge for repair cause it sounds like a software issue.

    I have tried most of these solutions and I'm still having the same problem. Occassionally I'll get a screen to install the disc in an xbox 360 console. I'm not sure what's going on with that screen. My xbox does play the original xbox games so I find
    this to be really weird.

    Possibly you need to get new xbox 360 games or you need to just fix your xbox

    I do believe that the only time a warranty charge is refunded (all users must pay for a refund unless in warranty), is if the problem was deemed to be caused by the Preview Program updates to a user's console. If your Xbox One console reads Xbox One games
    and Blu-Rays fine, have you tried inserting a DVD? That is the same format 360 games are inscribed. If it rejects the DVD as well, then it is more than likely the disc drive.

    Hi,

    It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

    The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

    Hi,

    Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

    • Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
    • Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

    The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
    work.

    Hi,

    it won't be a software problem. The reason is because the Xbox One's Blu-Ray drive actually has two laser diodes, one for reading Blu-Ray Xbox One discs and movies and another to read Xbox 360 and DVD movie discs.

    Essentially the laser that reads BD discs has failed and it's not something you can repair yourself.

    15 premium consoles,2 Elite consoles & my 360s is starting to play up now. Mostly disc drive problems & just had to send my Xbox One in as the disc drive on that won't read any games.

    Hi,

    You've said you've tried blu-ray discs and Xbox One discs but have you tried DVD discs?

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD and my guess is that DVD won't play either.

    The reason why they won't play is that DVD diode for reading these discs has failed. Other discs work because that laser diode is still working.

    Try a DVD disc. If it does not work you'll need a repair.
