    Xbox One won't read game discs at all


    I have two Xbox Ones in my house. In the past two days, neither one does a thing when I put in an Xbox One game. I can play Blu-Ray discs, and I can even play the backward compatible Fuzion Frenzy (both of which are recognized and boot up completely). My
    games are not scratched or fingerprinted, and since it's two separate machines with the same issue, I wonder if it isn't a software issue. Help!

    My Slims disc tray makes an odd noise.

    It won't read my discs at all. I bought this Xbox 6 months prior. Thanks for stealing my money!

    Xbox One won't read game discs at all

    I noticed if I put in a disk while Xbox is booting and not fully up - then a game does not get marked as having disk inserted.

    But if you know the game in question - you can start it just fine.

    I don't have the launch game when disk inserted or similar checked.

    Maybe if you rely on that - this is no longer working.

    That you have to start manually - as a workaround until fixed.

    I started having this problem awhile ago, and found out blowing air into the disc tray helps... at least it did for 2 months, and now it's back to the problem again. I just got cod ww2 so not happy that it decided to show up again at this point in time.

    If you have them on the floor or in a TV Stand, anywhere where dust is bountiful and have pets running around, blow some air into each vent and use a knife or something similar to hold the disc tray open slightly, and blow air into it... may be that the
    reader needs a good cleaning.

    The problem is, some of the games I'm trying to play are new, and they spin and click about 7 times and then nothing. Just spinning. I'm going to try the dust can and see if that helps. I'd hate to have to send TWO machines for repairs!

    Hi,

    It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

    The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

    Can you confirm if your console can read DVD discs?

    Xbox 360 games are on DVD and Xbox One games are on Blu-Ray. The Xbox One's Blu-ray drive has a separate laser to read DVD's, if it has malfunctioned, Xbox 360 games can't be read and the digital download for BC games won't start.

    To test this out, try playing a DVD movie disc. In all likelihood these films won't play and that will confirm drive malfunction. If this is the case you'll need your console repaired/replaced.
