    Xbox One Won't Read Any Discs


    About 2 months ago, I turned on my Xbox One to find out that none of my games (and believe me I tried all of them) would read. Every time I inserted one, the disc would attempt to load three times, proceeding to eject the disc giving me an error code and
    asking if it was an official game disc.

    So After multiple trails and errors and so on, I looked online to see if anyone else was having a similar problem. To my surprise, I found multiple sources where people were having an identical problem to mine. They all said about the same thing and noted
    that in order to get this fixed you have to send it in to Microsoft for repairs, costing $115. This, while stated on the website takes 14-21 days, is said by users to take much longer. And while it does have an expedited shipping option, many users have complained
    that it's not any faster.

    I've owned my console for about two years, receiving it during the 2013 holiday season and before this, I have had no issues or complaints other than minor bugs and freezes.

    What frustrates me is that even after taking excellent care of my console, I now have to pay for repairs for an issue that I am now seeing is common, and certainly not a user error.

    So this leads to my question, which is before I go ahead and pay $115 for a repair (which could take approximately over a month, as sources would suggest), does anyone have any solutions, quick fixes, suggestions or any other possible options that I should
    be considering?

    There's some troubleshooting steps here
    https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/console/disc-error     if none of those work then there's a link at the bottom of that page where you can book a repair.

    From personal experience it does sound like your disc drive is on it's way out so your console would need to be sent off for repair.

    Xbox One Won't Read Any Discs

    My solution won't help you, but I've owned my One since release date and have never put a disc in the drive. I buy all games digitally. For all I know the disc drive could've been broken straight out of the box.

    Standard warranties on most electronics nowadays is 1 year. Yours is older than that. I think you're gonna have to go the $100 route.

    Hi,

    It's not the discs it's your console. If your console can not read DVD movies then it won't read Xbox 360 games either. DVD movie discs use the same type of discs that 360 games use (DVD-9).

    The Xbox One has two lasers to read discs. One for Blu-rays - which Xbox One discs games are made of - and one for reading DVD's and Xbox 360 games.

    No disc read errors. Just backcompat error. Disc 1 reads and installs fine. There are not deviations on any of the discs. Just two and three won't work.

    Hi,

    Do other BC Xbox 360 game discs work on your Xbox One? For the Xbox One to recognise the game and download it from Live it must:

    • Be able to read the disc. Check if the disc is dirty or damaged
    • Have a working Optical drive capable of reading Xbox 360 discs. Try other BC discs or test a DVD movie.

    The Xbox One has two diodes for reading discs in the optical Blu-ray Drive. A red laser is used to read Xbox 360 and DVD movies and a blue laser to read Xbox One games and Blu-ray movies. If the diode for reading DVD's is faulty, BC Xbox 360 discs won't
    work.
