Xbox One Won't Power Down After One Hour

My Xbox One used to power down after one hour of inactivity. I would watch Netflix, Hulu, HBO, whatever and it would turn off since I have that option selected in Settings. Nothing changed, the setting is still selected, and my Xbox will not power down.
I don't have a Kinect or anything for it to sense movement. My boyfriend's Xbox will power down just fine, but mine has suddenly stopped successfully utilizing this feature. Even if I set my TV to turn off after X amount of time, the Xbox will still run.
I've also found recently that once I manually turn off the Xbox, it starts making odd noises (again, which it never did before). I've tried a hard reset and unplugging it, as I saw somewhere else mentioned this, to no avail. What's the deal?

It's not a real solution now but I can tell you that's normal in the sense that it just happens. I had and still have the 360S, One S and X and in all boxes this happens again and again. No matter what I set up and above all everyone had a different system
on it. The 360 OS, the One OS and then various insiders. This happens again and again. The boxes then do something that can take a very long time, really long, today it is also so, set are 2h and I have now slept 8h and the box is still on. Sometimes it's
perpetual update checks, sometimes the updates and often there's just something active that hasn't finished properly. But hey, same game on my laptop, sometimes he doesn't go on standby, or the monitor, same game. Won't really help you now because you've already
made these steps, just set the timer again, but save yourself the reset you reset.

Press main xbox button (x), goto settings, goto power mode And startup, then select desired shut off time in the first ment to the top it can set it. Anywhere from one to 6 hrs of inactivity, or to not turn off at all.

I have this problem all the time!!

The fix for powering down, unplugging does work, sure..

Then, maybe a few hours later, stops recording and won't work until I power down... how annoying..

My observation: Game DVR will work after powering down. Stops working after being idle or watch TV for a few hours in between gaming...

I have the Xbox One Project Scorpio edition console. Yesterday it shut down 5 minutes after i powered it on. It then shut down after a few hours and today it won't even power on at all.

I've tried all the troubleshooting steps, i've even tried changing the fuse on the power lead but nothing resolved the issue, looks like a hardware fault.

The console is well out of warranty but i've made an appointment to take it into the London Microsoft store next week to find out how much it will cost to repair it.

Well, i tested my 2 xboxs last night. I left one on the Dashboard and the other sitting on the MCX menu. The dashboard one powered down after 1 hour but the MCX one kept trucking along.
