XBOX One won't play some Blu Rays or 360 games

I've been having a problem with my X1 the past few months. It used to be that all discs worked perfectly in it, but in recent months my Blu Rays often won't play. I'd say about half of the discs I try won't work, the Blu Ray app never even loads up and
usually I don't get an error message, it's just that nothing happens. Occasionally it will freeze up the console and I'll have to do a reset and very rarely I'll get a message about unable to read the disc. But like I said, usually it's just like nothing
happens aside from the sound of the disc trying to load and just quitting. All of the Blu Rays that refuse to work did work at one time or another and some have just stopped working in the past week where they used to work even since the troubles began.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Blu Ray player app but that didn't help. Then a couple of days ago I also tried a couple of backwards compatible 360 titles and neither of those worked either. So X1 games (at least all the ones I have) work fine
but half of my Blu Ray discs and the two 360 games I tried won't work. I've searched though threads and search engines and haven't found anything that really works or applies to my situation. Some have some of the same symptoms but not all and the workarounds
I found for those issues didn't work.

Blu ray app works sometimes.

I bought Xbox one S solely for the blu ray player and capability to play UHD blu rays. However, the blu ray player app doesn't work every time and with every disc I use.

So far, I can get the UHD 4k blu rays to play after ejecting it once or twice and putting it back it.

*** But then, regular blu rays may not play at all. Some blu rays work right away, some work after ejecting it once or twice, some will play the previews but then won't go to Top Menu/main menu and subsequently won't play the movie, some won't play at all
no matter how long I wait or how many times I eject and re-insert the disc. The screen just goes black and then... nothing. ***

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the app. I've done the hard reset. Etc. Fully updated.

Please help Microsoft.

 

Xbox One won't play DVD due to region lock

Hello all,

My Xbox One plays Blu-Rays but won't play DVDs and I keep getting the region lock error message when I insert a DVD.

My Blu-Rays, DVDs and Xbox have all been purchased in Australia so I don't understand why it won't play DVDs.

All my games which have been purchased in Australia work fine as well.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or have a solution for it?
