Xbox One won't play game discs, but does play movies.

My nearly launch Xbox One started having problems reading discs, and getting discs stuck in the drive. It's out of any warranty, so I ordered a replacement drive from Amazon, put it in with the help of some fine YouTube videos, and now I get the message
"there's a problem with the disc drive. you can still use your xbox, but you won't be able to play discs." with the error code (0x11). It does play BluRay movies just fine.

Is there something I can do to fix this, or do I have to re-replace the new drive with the old drive and try to return the "new" drive? I say new, because the drive I ordered was manufactured only 2 months after the original, Sept '13 and Nov '13.

I really didn't want to buy a whole new console, when a new drive is only $59. Any one have this problem, and were you able to fix it?

I need proof that it's ok to play movies on xbox. My mother won't let me watch movies on my xbox 360.

No worries, both the 360 and the Xbox One can play movie discs.

The 360 is unable to play Blu Ray but does handle movie discs with no problems.

The Xbox One can play both regular and Blu Ray discs.

If your mother requires proof that movies can be played on the console you just need to show her the Movie and TV app on the console.

 

Xbox One doesn't play DVDs but will play Blu-rays. Anyone else have this problem?

The strangest thing. My OG Xbox One will play Blu-ray discs just fine. I've watched plenty of Blu-ray movies on it plus I've played many of my Xbox One games on it too (witch are on Blu-ray discs too). Unfortunately when it comes to DVDs, the One won't play
them. Usually I wouldn't give a thought about it because I no longer have any DVDs and have no need to watch a DVD movie but the fact is that I cant access any of my Xbox 360 games either because those are on DVDs. Kind of strange and I'm hoping I can get
a fix because I have allot of 360 games on discs that I can't play because of this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TL;DR: Xbox One will play media on Blu-ray discs (Xbox One games/Movies) but won't even read DVDs (Xbox 360 games) witch means I can't play any BC games.

 

Since you have tried to service the console yourself thus making your warranty void you can't ask for repairs or repair tips in the xbox forums. I suggest you to seek help from a local repair shop.

 

I appreciate the reply. I didn't think about "voiding the warranty," since it's aready out of any warranty, being a 3 year old console.

I did finally get it working. The internet can be a wonderful thing! If anything else happens, I'm just going to buy a new console next time... I'm typing this from a 10 year old HP laptop running Windows XP. I've replaced the DVD drive, and upgraded
the memory and HD. I hate to discard something if it's an "easy" fix.. I just thought of the Xbone disc drive as any other replacement part.
