    I've talked to support a few times with no luck. This is a day one console bought from Walmart in Canada. For the first year I never had an issue when playing any dvd or blu-ray but come December issues started but wasn't getting this error code and usually
    after clearing out the cache the disc would work. Early in January my xbox received an update and since then I'm unable to play any dvd's or blu-rays but game discs work fine. Error code again is (0x91d70005) and states "Sorry, we cannot play this disc.
    The disc is made for region 1 and this console is designed for region 2". My major beef is that xbox won't cover this and wants me to pay 115$ to ship this when I can buy a blu-ray player for less than 100$ Yes I understand my warranty is up but I didn't
    break it, you broke my console on an update!! Can't believe they won't budge on the price to fix it, not to mention how much money we day one users paid at launch! It's unacceptable that Microsoft can break our consoles on an update and expect us to pay
    for it to be fixed, somethings not right here...

    No Movies (blu ray or dvd)

    I just received my replacement xbox one console. Progress! The new one does PLAY commerical blu ray and dvd's!!! It does NOT play any of the blu ray movie disc (BDMV) that I created. Error 0x91d70000 (the error message on the old console was
    0x91d70001).

    Progress. It does play the commerical blu ray disc (Star Trek into Darkness is the only one I have).

    Yes, Xbox One can play both Blu-ray and DVD movies. No HD DVD

    Blu Rays and DVDs won't play - Error 0x80070006

    My Xbox One has also stopped playing Blu Ray and DVDs discs. I get the same error code.

    Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console.

    Some Blu-ray discs and DVDs are not region-encoded or are coded to all regions. Region-free Blu-ray discs and DVDs will play on any Xbox One console.

    Therefore, before purchasing Blu-ray or DVD disc, make sure that the region code on your disc is the same with your Blu-ray or DVD disc player.

    multi-format drives designed to read both (I have two).



    Beyond the physical inability to read an HD DVD in a Blu-ray drive, there's the issue of software. HDi Interactive Format was the standard used to create HD DVD menus and other content on-disc outside of the actual movie files. Blu-ray uses scripts and Java.
    Unless playback software can understand HDi Interactive Format, HD DVD menus won't work and the disc won't play.



    If it was possible for Blu-ray players to play HD DVD, people wouldn't be holding onto HD DVD drives.

    No Blu-Ray is a different disc reading to the standard DVD basis. Many companys have the legal right of using it like Sony. But Microsoft isn't one of them so I'm sorry it won't play Blu-Ray DVDs. They require a Blu-Ray Disc Driver.
