    Xbox One Won't Launch Any Games Installed from Disc


    I have Destiny and Mortal Kombat installed from a disc. Any time I try to launch the game, it shows the splash screen for a few seconds then goes back to the dashboard. This started happening yesterday after the preview program console update. Any other
    game downloaded works fine like Overwatch in my case. Not sure what I can do, I've cleared the cache, I've unplugged my xbox for about 15 seconds then turned it back on, no luck... anyone know what I can do?

    Can you play xbox one with no internet service?

    They are all disc versions. So, when I put in the disc, it says "queued." It won't boot the game up. And these are games I have previously installed to my xbox one. Any suggestions?

    Hey RodoggX360 -

    Good question! You can certainly insert the discs into your Xbox One without any issue. You might need to uninstall everything if you tried from Disc 1 first - sometimes Disc 2 won't pull DLC if the game is already installed.

    Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.
    Once it is back up and operational test the results.

    If that doesn't work since you are in the preview program you may be better served by posting in the preview forums.

    Mine is also doing this. When it happens it requires to hard reset without a disc in the drive and if I leave one in when it starts it will fail to read discs again.

    Hi, Steven. My name is Ron, a fellow Xbox gamer. I will be more than happy to help you.

    The console will detect that you have the digital version of the game that is installed on your console if you try to launch the game and it will automatically launch the digital version. You will have to uninstall it first before you can install the game through the disc version.
    That won't make any difference. The disc is just a medium to install the game. Since the they already own the digital license it won't make any difference of how the game is installed, it will still be owned digitally.

    Buying a new copy is a last resort. In any case, that link will be of little use to the OP as they appear to be from the United Kingdom.

    Try cleaning your disc with a some water and a non-abrasive cloth. After cleaning the disc try installing it. If it still won't install, borrow the game from a friend and install that one to your hard drive. You should then be able to use your disc to launch
    it.

    Take your game to retailer to have it cleaned. Gamestation can do this for you. It may just bring your game back from the dead.

    Do you notice any scratches on the COD disc?

    Another thing you can try is to search for the game using the Xbox app on mobile, then install it from there. That will download the game to your console, but obviously you need a license to play it. The disc acts as a license, so even if it is scratched and won't install from the disc itself, if the console is able to read enough of the disc to confirm that you own it, you'll be good to go.

    If it won't launch no matter what, after trying what I suggested in the previous paragraph, then either the disc has a bad scratch on it that prevents the console from properly reading it, or your console's optical drive is not functioning correctly.

    Without being pedantic, technically speaking there is no such thing as a 'digital version' of an Xbox One game. Both the disc and the digital versions are the same. What you buy is a digital license. Of course, once you have the license you won't need
    the disc.

    If you borrowed your friends game on disc, installed it, then decided you also wanted this game, you just buy it from the Xbox Store. As you've already installed the game from disc you won't need to download anything, other than any updates as normal.

    The Xbox 360 had separate digital and disc based games, the Xbox One does not.
