    Xbox One won't display after turning on (and multiple other issues)


    Here's the sequence of issues I've had today:

    • turned on console with controller, but it never turned on. only the controller would turn on then off
    • turned on console with power button on front, but it never displayed on my tv
    • troubleshot issue and simultaneously pushed eject and power button (to reset in 640x480 mode) which worked
    • reset display settings to 1080p and began to play Call of Duty Advanced Warfare
    • in the middle of the game, the sound stopped working. the xbox menu sounds worked fine (moving around through the menus) but the game sound did not
    • intermittent sound would work (I could hear people talking on xbox live but could not hear anything else in the game)
    • began to play a game and not only would the sound not work, but the video became EXTREMELY shaky
    • cycled console, but now it won't display anything.
    • tried simultaneously holding eject and power button on display, but it won't boot to 640x480 mode anymore
    I've tried multiple HDMI cables and different HDMI ports on my TV, none of it worked.

    HDMI not working

    I've heard of other issues with HDMI connections being solved by turning off the 'display discovery' under the 'display settings' and restarting the console. Can't hurt to try.

    HDMI Splitter what should i buy?

    So is it a splitter - single source to multiple displays or a switch - multiple sources to a single display that you are after ?

    Fixed. It looks like the HDMI port on the xbox is loose and does not keep the cable in the correct position. After moving it around, all the sound and video came back on.

    Have you tried more than one 1080p display to test it out? Unfortunately if the display issue has persisted on multiple displays with the troubleshooting steps you've included, your Xbox One console may need to be repaired. If this has persisted on other

    I have a problem and I don't know where to go or what to do. I turn on my Xbox and it turns on but wont display on the tv that's on and when I try turning it off I have to press the Xbox button multiple times and even my controller will tun on the Xbox

    Blu-ray menu not showing up

    I'm having the same issue with Planet Earth 2. I recently purchased my Xbox One S just to use it as a 4K blu-ray player, so I'm not very happy.

    I tried both solutions to no avail. Turning the power off and on didn't help it. Uninstalling and installing again didn't fix it.

    This behavior started immediately after the last update. It seemed to break all overlay capability. The Closed Captioning / subtitles do NOT display. The pop-up menu won't display either.

    Please get working on an update to fix this.
