    Hi!

    Since yesterday, our xbox one won't detect any external hard drive. We've try the 3 steps proposed on the site, but there's nothing working. Any of you experienced such a problem? Any of you have been able to solve it? Would reinitializing the console be
    of any help really? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    Now I've corrected the previous reply - sorry had to be done - now on to your issue.

    Does your drive get detected at all by the Xbox One? All Storage devices, whether they are USB Flash drives, USB Hard drives or SSD external hard drives should be at least detected, even if they can only be used to play video, but don't meet the requirements
    of Xbox One external game storage.

    this one    ? If so, how did you connected to the console? If it was with a SATA to USB cable, I'm pretty sure that won't work. It needs to be USB 3.0 external hard drive enclosure.

    Hi ItsOminousCloud,

    Is the drive being detected under Storage? If it is not then try the following link please:

    Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One

    I would recommend connecting the external drive to a PC/Laptop and if it is detected then what needs to be done next is a reset to the external drive itself.

    1. Plug the drive into the port on the PC or Laptop

    2. Go to files explorer

    3. Locate the drive (is it detected)

    4. If detected, right click then format

    This will wipe the drive. After, eject the drive then plug the drive back into the console port

    Side Note: it may have you format to match the console in NTF format

    Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is an issue with the Xbox console detecting the external hard drive. I recommend to try the following:

    • Troubleshoot external storage detection on Xbox One
    • Try a different port on the Xbox console
    • Try using another cable that connects from your external hard drive to your Xbox console
    • Try a different external hard drive to help isolate the issue between the Xbox or the hard drive

    Give this a try and let us know the results.
