Xbox One Won't Delete Games

I ran out of space on my hard drive to install a new game. When I Manage a Game to uninstall it, I confirm that I'm sure I want to uninstall, then the screen flashes and goes back to the Game Management screen without deleting the game. I have tried this
on several Xbox One games and even the reverse compatible Xbox 360 games, but cannot uninstall any games on my console! I have done this before without any issues but for some reason it wont let me now. I have powered down the console and unplugged it, waited,
and then plugged it in and restarted it to no avail.

Backward Compatibility

No. Once you have purchased a digital game you can delete it and re-download it as many times of you like. It won't matter if you delete it from your Xbox 360, it will show up on your Xbox One.

Hi, try changing the power mode on the Xbox to energy saving, then press and hold the power button on the Xbox for 10 seconds, when the Xbox powers off take the power lead out of the back of the Xbox, wait 2 minutes, reconnect the power cable and power the
Xbox on again using the power button on the Xbox. Then try uninstalling the game again, if it works out then change the power mode back to Instant on.

I did what you said EggsBoxJuan, but the only thing I could delete was Elder Scrolls Online, it still wouldn't let me delete any other game? Doesn't make sense to me why that one single game could be deleted but no others could.

You can reset the Xbox One from Settings> all settings > System > console update and information > reset. Remove everything and it will remove all games. Just redownload your profile and the games you want.

Or try from another account or from the game menu on the home page after you try to launch the game.

Have all your updates been downloaded successfully? if not factory reset (keep all games and apps option) and hit factory reset if that didn't work then there might be a problem on there side.

This worked for me I can now uninstall apps... It also fixed a problem with RDR2 not loading. The xbox said I had to uninstall it, but after the reset it started fine. Thanks

The only ones you can delete are the ones that you haven't gotten any gamerscore on.

So, even if you got 1 gamerscore in a game, you won't be able to delete it.

I have around 100 friends and about 10 of them have an Xbox One, but I won't delete anyone because I'm that lazy. If I ever reach the friends limit I'll start deleting then. I hate viewing Xbox 360 gamerpics on the Xbox One. I
even have a friend on the Xbox One who won't change his 360 gamerpic, grr!

I don't know if that's how Xbox handles it but other companies have done this and that's how they run the backwards compatible games in their consoles

However, even with an emulator they just can't release (or re-release) everything as they wish, they are not the publishers or makers of most games so they still need certain permissions.

An example is Alan Wake: there was a brief time when you couldn't redownload or buy the game as some music licenses had ended, the problem got solved and we have Alan Wake available again

So, even if there are different software approaches to the problem, backwards compatibility is not only a software problem and I honestly think it's more of a legal one

The system already runs something like this when you play a whitelisted backward game, this would just be that with access to the disc reader -which i imagine it already does.
