Xbox One won't control my HW150PVR tuner

Studbucket33 thanks for being so open with the details of the troubleshooting process on your end. It really helps to narrow down this issue. You mentioned some of the team have the V18 box that works. This is a good start now we just have to figure out
how their box differed from our non-working boxes. It is likely other Xbox One users have a working V18 they are just not here complaining so we don't know about them.

I checked out my box a little more and found another number on the back that ends in V2. There was a change to the remote used for this box which may be the cause of this issue. Mediasonic may be updating software on their end based on remote they ship
with product.

My box has the same remote as pictured in this thread. Under the batteries I found another code that may help.

Further troubleshooting for your teams working V18:

1. Check if same remote as pictured in thread.

2. Check if same code under batteries on remote.

3. Check code on sticker on back of the unit.

OTA SOLUTION REVEALED

I got it to work with my HW150PVR, sort of. I input it as mediasonic and typed in the HW150PVR. It will turn it on and off, but when I use voice to change channel it inputs 51 rather than 5-1. So I get an invalid channel message. Other than the channel number
issue, it has worked with my set top box and works my receiver for volume control with voice command.

 

Cannot pause or rewind live TV since system update.

I use the xbox one TV tuner and have always been able to pause or rewind live TV.

Since the new UI those buttons do nothing on the remote control, and it won't work using the control pad either.

Even using the Xbox Pause command does nothing.

The only option I now get is to turn the subtitles on and off.

Any ideas?

 

Update for you all. Mine is now working. I didn't really change anything, today during my free time I just removed the cable box selection and reinput it as Homeworx. It did not ask me for the model of the box it just skipped it completely. It then worked!
I had to tweak the location of the IR emitter on the box a little bit to get it to take the information consistently. The homeworx box really likes a pit of precision with the emitter. Find the center of where the emitter flashes and place that directly
over the emitter - ensure that it is the center of the bulb not the plastic casing.

 

I received my box last week and it also doesn't change the channels through the One Guide (I do have a Kinnect). Everything else seems to be working fine. Purchased from Amazon.

When I initially placed it on it was maybe 1/4" to 3/8" lower than where it is now. When I went to change channels it would only input a number or two to do so. With currently location it works every time.

 

IT IS A MIRICLE!!!! I just turned my Xbox one this morning...and on a whim tried to use the One Guide again.....and it worked!!!!! I didn't do anything to either my Xbox or my PVR since i tried on Friday....then it works perfect today,!!!!! WOW! This
works great...thanks Xbox TV team...if you did something to fix!

 

After seeing the post from TheGweedoe, I thought I'd try my luck, but no dice. I also went into the settings and found that there is a new model listed called "HW150PVR (new version)". I tried that one and now when I try to change channels via OneGuide,
the screen goes black for 3-4 seconds and then reverts to the original channel. So, it's still not working for me.

MinimumHacksaw - in TV & OneGuide settings - Device control -> Cable/sat box -> Enter a remote code, what value is listed there?

Everyone else - Try going through cable/sat box setup again, enter make=Homeworx, model=HW. From the drop down, choose the HW150PVR (New Version) model and see if that helps.

 

OK, I tried starting over with the suggested instructions from Studbucket.

Reset up, using Homeworkx as the manufacturer, and used the "HW150PVR (New Version)" as the device.

I had the same results as WolverineJUL17.

It would send the command to the box, the screen would go black, but would stay on the same channel. So there is some progress, but still not working properly.

Edit: I went and checked the code as you asked someone else to do. It's N4615

One other thing I forgot to mention in my last post. I also tried all three settings in regards to the IR delay. The "recommended/default" as well as slow and fast. None made any difference. I also tried resetting the PVR box itself - JUST IN CASE.


All no change, just reporting what I've tried.

 

Thanks. Does power on and off work for these boxes, and just channel change is broke? Or is it all broken?

 

I did some further testing and had a MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH on the problem.

1. The screen going black is result of IR transmitter code being set to my Samsung television. I tested with IR transmitter pointed only at TV and it still caused the "black screen" effect described by OP and others. To others testing a black screen when
sending signal does not indicate that the IR head is aligned with the sensor on the tuner. This is likely a huge source of confusion in this thread I think many others as assuming the black screen when testing means the transmitter is lined up with the IR
sensor on the tuner box.

2. The IR transmitter head I had hooked to the DVR/Tuner was broken and was not sending signal at all. Then while trying to unhook the other head from my TV to test it broke as well. This is the transmitter I was using DO NOT RECOMMEND.
