Xbox one won't connect to wifi

i have an Xbox one which will not connect to anybody's wifi, it sees my wireless network, try to connect and it says 'cannot connect to dhcp server' or IP address error. The IP address on the console is showing as 169.254 xxx xxx and not the IP address
it should be getting from the router. I have tried manually assigning an IP, I have made sure my router settings are correct, I have tried static IP and port forwarding. But when all is said and done its doing it on two different routers in different houses
so what could be the problem ? I have only just bought it and previous owner says they had no issues with wireless. It works fine with correct IP on Ethernet cable

Try to reset the router. There should be a reset button there. t appears to be connectng but youre not getting a DHCP address from the router.
