Xbox One won't connect to wifi. Please, oh please, somebody help.

    Hello everybody.

I just got an Xbox One and I can't set it up. My Xbox recognizes my wifi metwork here at home but it will not connect. I'm told it may be my modem and/or my router. (My router is an Apple Airport Express; it's about four to five years old and my modem is
a Motorola SB5100.) I have spoken to Apple, spoken to my internet (and modem) provider, chatted with Xbox support, and spoken in person to a tech guy at Best Buy; everybody has a different answer, none of which are right.

Can anybody help me out here? I've got a seven-year-old chomping at the the bit over here and personally, I'm gonna lose my ***.

    Thank you in advance.

    :)

    wifi issues

So recently my xbox one has not been able to connect to my wifi network. It has before in the past and one day up and stopped working. I've called xbox customer support and went through troubleshoot steps with them but so far they have not helped. The wifi network shows up but whenever i try to test the network connection i get an error message that says 'cannot get an IP address'. I tried a wired connection and that works but i am not able to keep it wired all the time. If anyone might have a solution please help!

Apple a xbox can be tricky , just to check , I would plug the xbox straight up the the Motorola SB5100 and by pass the apple all together , at least let the xbox do the updates that way ....that is a pretty old modem also , DOCSIS 1.1 and we're up to 3.0
now , a good set up for xbox live is a plain modem like you have ( although a little newer) and a Netgear router (wrn2000 is what I got from best buy $50.00) if your looking to up grade....i'll look and see if I can find some info on the apple , the guy
on here that knows them aint on right now...

  5. Found this on the apple , something to do with the "Teredo tunnels" , they are off by default and you need to open them.... below will tell you how ....I WOULD STILL hard wire the xbox to the modem for the initial update so it dosent get interrupted though....

Apple routers have a default setting where if a native IPv6 address is present on the WAN, the router will block Teredo by filtering UDP 3544. To work around this issue, you will need to go into IPv6 security/firewall settings and re-enable Teredo.

In some cases, the Xbox 360 cannot obtain an IP address if the Airport Express is using WEP security - use WPA2 instead.

On the Xbox One, if you are having issues getting into multiplayer gaming with this router, it may be blocking Teredo tunnels. This is a setting that is left unchecked by default on this router.

    To allow Teredo tunnels:

1.Open the AirPort Admin Utility. (It is installed in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on computers using Windows.)

2.With the Utility open select your device from the menu on the left.

3.Select Advanced from the menu at the top.

4.Select the tab labeled IPv6 Firewall.

5.Check the option to Allow Teredo tunnels.

    6.Select Update.

Hello. Thanks for your speedy response.

Your post is sort of helpful: I think I get what you're referring to. When I open my Airport Utility I see a IPv6 WAN address. I don't know how to select the IPv6 firewall.

(I know almost nothing about this stuff.)

  7. I have ZERO apple experience , you would just have to look around in there ....I would still recommend the straight connection to the modem for the VERY IMPORTANT INITIAL UPDATE....if things go wrong there (assuming they already haven't ) you may never
    get it right...
