  1. Xbox One won't connect to TV

    Hi!

First of all, I'm not techical type of person, so make sure to explain everything carefully, thank you. Two days ago, I got my first console, Xbox one. It didn't take long until I found out I won't be able to connect it to my PC monitor or my main TV. TV
doesn't have HDMI so it's out of game, PC monitor has VGA ports and no audio output. My first though was I'll need to buy a convertor HDMI to VGA + 3.5mm jack (for external speakers which only have one 3.5 jack cable coming out). I haven't buy it yet, it's
quite expensive ($70). A friend of mine borrowed me TV with 2 HDMI ports and when I plugged console in, switched it ON, nothing happens. NOTHING. I AM SURE I plugged everything correctly and followed user manual and internet tutorials, tried hard resets and unplug
HDMI cable. Don't have any other HDMI cables.

What are my options? If shows up I need a new TV, could you recommend me one that 100% works and is under $500? Do I need to set up TV anyhow to accept Xbox One? If I buy that converter, will video and audio work?

    Thank you.

    :)

    XBOX won't connect to tv

stopped working probably about Sept last year coz i got the Kinect in July and it was working for a while on the tele then one day just didn't show a picture when i switched cables. it's a pretty old console now tbh so i'm just going to keep using the leads
until the day that it eventually dies on me and i have to replace it

It seems like you've exhausted almost all your troubleshoot options, you've already tried different HDMI cablesas well as different ports, you can try to reset the resolution on the xbox by following these steps. If all this does not work then you may need
a TV, some Monitors won't work with Xbox Ones, any TV that has an HDMi cable and produces at least 720P, there's some relatively inexpensive ones at Wal Mart I've seen 55 inch TV's go for $500 and smaller for less.

Hi, firstly there are two HDMI ports on the rear of the Xbox, you muse use the port nearest to the power connector.

It may be that you will need to reset the display settings on the Xbox, you do that by ejecting any disc that is in the disc drive, then press and hold the power button on the Xbox for around 10 seconds and the Xbox will power off, then press and hold the
power button on the Xbox and the eject button, keep both buttons held, you will hear the power on tone and around 10 seconds later another power on tone, do not let go of the buttons until you hear that second power on tone.

As for a TV at the price you mention, there are some great TV's available at or under that price range, you just need to ensure the TV has at least one HDMI port ( more if possible ) and that it's an HDTV ( sometimes described as HD Ready ) Samsung is a
great brand but of course there are many other HD TV's out there. Maybe look at some reviews on the internet to find a model that suits your needs at a price you can afford.

As for HDMI to VGA cables/ converters etc you can hit all sorts of issues so if possible steer clear and go for a TV instead.

  6. Thank for your answers.

I forgot to mention that TV channels are still playing normally. Also I don't have any Xbox discs, I bought Xbox One Halo Master Chief Collection Edition. I haven't managed to get to Xbox screen at all, not even controller or green screen. Could TV's HDMI
ports be damaged? I'll try reseting the resolution and give you know.

    @EggsBoxJuan

What issues can I hit by using HDMI to VGA converter?

It could be a possibility, only way to check is to see if you can plug in something else like a DVD player into the same port and see if it works, did resetting the resolution work by any chance?

  8. Xbox One won't connect to TV

Hi, sorry for delay, but I managed to make my xbox work correctly. It showed up I needed to switch TV to HDMI 1 channel, which I somewhat expected, but I was hard to do as I didn't have original remote controller. Feel free to mark this most as answered.
    Thanks for all your time.

Does other stuff work on that HDMI port on your TV? Also, be sure you got the cable in the HDMI out port on the Xbox as there is a port for input that wouldn't work for connecting to the TV

Hi, MaKayla! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your console.

If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you could answer the following questions.

    - May I ask which Xbox One model you are using?
    - Do you have any external devices plugged into your console?
    - Have you noticed if your console will turn itself off after some time of being on and not displaying on your TV?

    - I see another forum member has shared a link to a support article related to this problem, may I ask if you have already tried anything mentioned there?

Thank you! I'll be looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.
