Xbox one won't allow controller connections

Hi,

my xbox one is having problems connecting controllers to it. It doesnt allow wireless connections at all. Whereas it does kind of work with a usb connection but only with one certain cable and that always drops out anyway.

I have tried various controllers and new usb cables and battery packs and nothing seems to work at all. Apart from the one usb cable which continually drops out anyway.

I was wondering how to fix this.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

I have 0 controllers connected to my Xbox because I can't connect any. It isn't just my one controller that won't connect, none of my 4 controllers will.

The cable will keep my Xbox one s controller active but the light won't come on and it isn't charging.

It sounds to me like the controller needs some kind of update to allow the old Xbox one battery.
