    Xbox One without disk drive

I'm not sure how many of you are aware but there is rumours of some sort going around that there will be a cheaper Xbox One without a disk drive.

There was already an idea to make one without the disk drive and now, they might come true with the alternative.

It will be cheaper by $100 and I wanna get your thoughts, what do you think about this? Would you buy it, if you don't own one now/

    :)

  2. Xbox use without disk drive

WOW, xD, I feel so dumb now. I even gave away a controller, and some other accessories 'cause I didn't figure I'd get it fixed for quite awhile. Anyway, thanks, guys! NERDGASM!!! I'm about to go buy a game and nolife the fudge out of it! Xbox One without disk drive :), again, thanks
for being so helpful, for the lengthy responses, etc; a simple "yes" would have been good, but it's nice to see people are thorough.

    Have a wonderful day!

  3. Xbox use without disk drive

Hey, I'll try to make this quick. If you don't have a working disk drive (my friend dropped it a little while ago, and it's been saying that there's not a disk in the drive when there actually is ever since. Also, my warranty ran out, so I can't send it
in or anything. I'm planning on getting it fixed eventually, but I've no money. Anyway, what I'm really interested is if I'd be able to like, play games purchased off of the marketplace without a disk drive? They play directly from the hard drive, right? So,
no disk = no drive needed, correct? Please, help would be appreciated, 'cause it's just been sitting there for a couple months now, and I just realized that it might be possible to play games that way.

No, i personally would not buy it. I prefer disc based media, as to me it has more pros than the digital format.

    -

But that is beside the point, if they want to compete as a all in one entertainment Hub, then the console needs to come with a "Disc" Drive. (I wouldn't like a disk version, as that is going back in time to far). Blu-Rays are extremely popular still, including
3D. And many people have shelves full of them.

Id want it to atleast have a cassette deck.

Seriously, I don't know. I love watching movies and such from Redbox and not having a disc drive in place limits me to $5.99 rentals.

no, disc based media is still the way to go until Internet providers drop internet caps or there are other ways to use media. For example, I would be all over an Xbox with an SD card slot where you could buy SD Cards with games on them ( I know 50 - 60 GB
SD cards would still not be cheap) and if I could have one to put movies on and play. That is a better idea than a drive-less device. Solely relying on internet is not the way to go yet in my opinion.

Phil Spencer just said regasding this rumor "Don't believe everything you read online". I guess it's possible one day, but not sure if it would be that much cheaper. The disc drive isnt likely costing them anywhere near 100 dollars.

    Xbox One without disk drive

I would not buy one because I watch Blu-rays on my Xbox One, however I would buy one if there was an optional BD drive accessory.

Well considering you can pick up blu ray drives, and decent ones at that, for about $50 for a pc, how much do you really think the one in the x1 is worth. I highly fought they would cut $100 dollars of the price when they are more than likely paying around
$20 for them in bulk. I have no source on that but I can't imagine them being that expensive. There is a lot of rumours happening at the moment. Take them as such. Until we here officially from Microsoft it's all speculation because seriously, if you want
to believe the internet then they've already found Bigfoot and aliens already live among us.

Forgot to add that I personally wouldn't get something like this as I enjoy disc based games too as well as movies. I do totally understand that many people would be fine with a driveless One that had like 1TB HDD at least, just not my thing really.

    .

But like Dufful always say, I dont know if MS even pays 20 dollars per disc drive when bought in bulk, so a 100$ discount is very unlikely. I think it would be likelier to have bigger HDD, no disc drive but same price.

[/quote]Do not talk for everybody. You like digital fine, but that don't mean everybody rather digital same goes with disks. A good balance is the best way to please both kind of gamers.

Granted these people always say that stuff. I have seen these comments for rumors that were absolutely false and also for those that proved to be 100% true. Hard to say. But the idea of a cheaper model is not something you want out there if you want sales
of what you have to stay up.

Also, I do not think that a disc-less model would be a big seller. To many people still have poor or no internet. Look at the 360 and compare units sold to Live accounts. And a large number of Live accounts are gold. I know some who have silver because
their internet is not good enough to game online really. And some just chose not to pay.

I do wonder about the Kinect rumor where it was said that MS is giving back 8% of the GPU to help with games. Basically taking Kinect out of the game equation if a dev so choses. And I would bet that every multiplatform game would not go out of their way
to downgrade the graphics more just to add those Kinect features in and instead opt to use that extra power for graphics performance. That could be a huge blow for Kinect.
