Xbox One with Live, Child Account unable to play online games

Both of the child accounts I have on my Xbox One are unable to join online games.

I searched the forums, but can't figure out why. I granted them specific access in the child account settings, and it still fails. Age is set for above the Game rating.

    Please help.

Gold sharing on one Xbox problem with backward compatibilty

    hey guys,

i have a problem: I have a child account(with xbox live gold) linked to my account (no xbox live gold).

Now I want to play halo reach with my account on the home xbone of my child account. How do I do this. I have signed in both profiles to the console and still it says you cant play online because of no gold membership?

Edit: even without family connection problem is still occurring. Tested two Xbox one games online. Both worked. Tested two Xbox one backward compatibilty games, message shows I have no gold.

Also: playing backward compatibilty games online with the other (former child) account works perfectly fine

How does Xbox Live Gold work for child accounts?

Recently bought my son an Xbox One and set him up as a child account. i bought Live Gold but when he tries to play online, he gets the prompt that he needs to buy Live Gold. Does him having a child account of a user with Live Gold not allow him to play
    online?

Xbox One with Live, Child Account unable to play online games

    Hi Palantyri!

I'm sorry for the trouble your going through and hope I can be of some help.

This could be due to the privacy and online safety settings rather then a rating limit issue. On Xbox One, you can go to Settings>Privacy and Online Safety (left hand side)> Custom. Your looking for the setting called "Join Multiplayer Games" and make sure
its not set to block. You can also manage the privacy and online safety for both the parent account and the child account by going to Xbox.com. Then go to My Account> manage my privacy and online safety (in the safety section towards the bottom). For the website,
make sure you sign into the parent account as the child account won't be able to change the settings.

If this doesn't resolve your issue, it's possible it could be a networking issue. Please make sure your not getting a strict or moderate NAT type (Settings> Network). If you do have a strict or moderate nat type follow these steps

    support-origin.xbox.com/.../nat-error-solution

    Keep me posted~!

Yeah, NAT is already at moderate, and the child account is already set to custom and allowed to Join Multiplayer Games.

Networking itself is fine because as the parent account, I can play Multiplayer with no issue. And if I'm signed in then of course it's fine for him also.

Its only the child account that is giving me trouble. For any online game it keeps asking my child to buy Xbox Live Gold, even though a subscription is active on the box.

The error says "Your profile does not have the correct permissions to access Xbox Live functionality"

All profile settings seem to match.

    Any other suggestions?

Does the child account have its own subscription or are you trying to share the subscription through the "My Home Xbox" feature?

It could also be an issue with the Xbox live Terms of Use, I would suggest signing in on xbox.com with the child account to see if your prompted to accept the Terms of Use and give consent to the child account.

Yes, attempting thru My Xbox Home feature.

I did sign in as one of them, no TOS popped up on xbox.com or on the Xbox.

Ok, so last night i went to Xbox Home chat support and we got this resolved.

Basic issue was that I hadn't set the parent account to have the Xbox as it's Home Console, so it wouldn't properly share out the Live Gold subscription

    Thanks for the help.

    I can't play minecraft on ps4

    Hey Jewker

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are experiencing difficulties with being able to play Minecraft on your PS4 because of how your account is set-up.

The message you are receiving, only appears if you are attempting to play online and your Xbox Live settings are not correctly configured.

In order to play online, you will need to change your
Xbox Live privacy and online settings
. However, if you are unable to configure your account yourself, it is likely that you may have a Child account, and if this is the case, you will have no choice but to have the parent account make these changes for
you. You will be unable to play online if you are unable to configure these changes on your account.

    I hope this helps.

    Child can’t play realms.

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    good evening

There are a few things you can check if your child is unable to play Realms on Xbox even though you have enabled multiplayer and Realms on the Xbox family app:

Make sure that your child's Xbox account is set up correctly: Your child's Xbox account needs to be properly set up and linked to your Microsoft account in order for them to be able to play Realms. If their account is not set up correctly, they may not be able to play.

Check the privacy and online safety settings on your child's Xbox account: Make sure that the privacy and online safety settings on your child's Xbox account are set correctly to allow them to play Realms. To do this, go to the "Privacy & online safety" tab in the Xbox guide, then select "View details & customize" and make sure that the "Multiplayer gaming" and "Communicate with voice and text" options are set to "Everyone" or "Friends."

Check the Xbox Live status page: If there are any issues with the Xbox Live service, your child may be unable to play Realms. You can check the Xbox Live status page to see if there are any known issues that could be affecting your child's ability to play Realms.

Restart your Xbox console: Restarting your console can sometimes resolve issues with stuck games or other issues. To do this, press the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the guide, then select "Restart console."

Can't purchase free gold game. Your account is unable to make this type of purchase

There seems to be no solution to this problem if a child account is the one with Xbox Live Gold and you don't have an Xbox 360.

The parent account does not have the ability to get the Xbox Live Gold game for free.

The child account gets the message "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com".
