Xbox One with Kinect vs without

Xbox+Kinect=Xbox's vision.

What is soo hard for people to grasp. Go spend billions on your own console and controller. Then you can put your little mic boom in the controller.

Good luck with its responsiveness next too vibration and consistent button pressing though!

I suggest INVESTING in the Kinect version. You can-not do voice commands with a mic, it's a Kinect feature. It's like saying can I play Kinect Sports Rivals with just the controller. Zoo Tycoon and other games have Kinect features. You can also use
it to sign into your console using facial/body recognition, scan Xbox QR codes, play certain games, and video calling (on Xbox 1 have to use Skype for that) which is a like among other young peps. If you're not into all that stuff, then you're free to go with
the Kinect-less version. Microsoft is going to sell a standalone Kinect for a whopping US$150 so if you have a change of heart, you'll be hitting your head against the wall as it would have been cheaper to get the console with Kinect even at full RRP it's
still cheaper to get the console with Kinect, than to get the Kinect-less, and later on, Ooow, I want the Kinect, and pay extra for a Kinect when you could of saved money but getting the Kinect console in the first place.

 

Their vision was, and always will be, to make money. It's what drives every company. If M.S. believes letting people use their headset for voice controls will sell more consoles...

I believe the Kinect is a great piece of tech and enhances the system; I'm glad it came with mine. I really don't care if M.S. enables voice control with headset...choice is a good thing.

I wish more people would use that handy little button M.S. was so kind of to include! Lol.

As my headset is broken, I'm glad I have a Kinect so I can still chat with people. Sadly, because I don't have a working headset, it's considerably harder to use "that handy little button" (since it's on the headset, which is broken) - this means, and my
apologies, you WILL hear me give voice commands most of the time, as it is too tedious for me to take the time to switch to the snapped party mid-game, scroll down, and select mute party (and if we're not in a party, you're definitely out of luck because you're
going to hear it - unless you mute me, of course). I find that, in most cases, it doesn't really seem to bother people all of that much anyways, or at the very least, they don't voice any issues they may have with me doing so.

The only time I generally mute my Kinect while in a party with friends is if my family tries to come and talk to me about something important or personal that I may not want you guys to hear - and often times, I'm slow to realize it's even happening before
doing so, so I'm sure many of you can attest to learning quite a bit about me as a result.

OP, just another word of caution, if you ever use the Kinect to chat in a party with others, be careful with what you say, as the gamers on the other side, friend or foe, may be unscrupulous individuals and may take advantage of what you or others may say
on the other end. Trust me, I know from experience and as a result, my family doesn't like the device for that reason. Despite this, it is pretty easy to avoid, as others have said above, you can just use a headset which has the mute button to talk to others.
Lastly, one cool feature of the Kinect sensor is that you can change its settings so it's not used for chat, but can still be used for everything else (gestures, voice commands, etc.) - this completely negates what I've said above, so props to MS for thinking
ahead on that one.

Too bad my headset is broken (it's going to cost me $80 to fix, since it's a Turtlebeach X42 wireless headset)... *sigh*

 

GG they should add the voice command "Xbox mute me". Lol

 

Lol. You don't seem to "abuse" barking commands into the Kinect, at least not when I've played with you. The guy I played last night would have benefited from the mute button though...I swear he thought he was a drill instructor and his X Box One was a new
recruit. ;-)

Also games dont have to be Kinect only to use it well. While I freely admit there is a shortage of Kinect only games I dont see that as being a bad thing. Last generation many Kinect games felt rushed. Maybe devs knew the end of that generation was coming
and just wanted to push games out the door. But games that use a controller in conjunction with Kinect can do well with the tech. I love Forza headtracking for example. Ive said it before, if you take the time to set it up properly AND take the time to learn
how to use it, you'll have an enjoyable experience with it. Also if youve ever had to do a hard reset on your system it wouldnt hurt to recalibrate the thing before you start complaining that it doesnt work. Also use the Voice studio app as MS uses the data
to improve things.

 

D33dles I get the feeling that the guy you were playing with didnt calibrate withe volume turned up. I barely have to go above a whisper for voice commands to work though generally I use my normal speaking voice. I still use my headset for chat though.

 

GG since youre using a 3rd party headset what happened to the one that came with the console?

 

I pretty much only use the x1 kinect to chat I do have the tbx42 too lol its under warranty til april next year. Have never used the headset which came with my day one console. But the eco cant be as bad as the 360 kinect. My friends who have the 360 kinect
and I get annoyed by the eco I can return the favour when they hear me using kinect. You do sound kind of older when using the kinect some peps think I sound like a little british kid especially last year when I use my mic. But when they see my yt videos I
sound older. One of my friends said to another friend omg you sound sooo different when he used the 360 kinect.

 

JPep, I have it and it still works perfectly - just not for me. Since I suffer from severe hearing loss (and wear hearing aids as a result), when I use it, I can hear you, but I can't understand what you are saying - at all (imagine trying to talk to someone
and having them sound like ). For this reason, I use the 3rd party headset exclusively, which has much better and louder sound quality that I can hear. Since I have a sound system set up with my TV and console, I can also hear everyone
else effectively while using the Kinect as well, which is what I'm currently doing now.

 

Thats cool. Going thru a 7.1 system as well. Thats actually probably a better option for Kinect chat users as the speakers are farther from the Kinect. Just make sure to adjust the audio sliders so it doesnt so easily pick up game noise.

^^Please re read my post as dripping with sarcasm in response to the one above it. Applying that context to it, it should be pretty obvious that I was pointing out exactly what
you just said... which is what we can do now, but could not if we only had 1 mic to take care of both game chat and voice commands. I designed my post that way for a reason... it was responding in kind.
