Xbox One with Kinect vs without

I have a Kinect sensor with my Xbox One console and it comes highly recommended from me. It simply adds so much more to the experience - ease of use, new ways to control media, and interesting ways to add to the gaming experience. Be forewarned however,
it may take some time to learn exactly how to use all of the voice commands properly.

Difference between Xbox One and Xbox One without Kinect

Looks like I will need to make the switch over. I know on 11/2/2014 the Xbox One without Kinect will be available are there any differences between the Xbox One with Kinect and Xbox One without kinect.

True, you only write something negative about Xbox one vs Kinect vs PS4 vs streambox vs Xbox 360 vs "next-gen" vs the world....And if you can't find a thread,you create one....

You're right not all the time....

 

There's nothing like yelling "XBOX record that" in the heat of the moment.

IAlso, it's definitely useful when you feel like chatting with friends and want to do it hands-free without the controller constantly powering down.

I would go with the Kinect to get the full experience.

 

When it was first announced that the Kinect was mandatory, I was not going to buy the X1. When the Kinect was included, but not mandatory, I figured it could be sold after trying it out. Now that I've used the Kinect, I wouldn't own a X Box One without it;
voice controls have proven their worth to me.

Skype is another great feature if you have family far away; just last night "Snapped" it while playing Titanfall to video chat with my brother. Jumping from app to app using voice, pausing a movie without a remote, using the snap feature to check an achievement
without getting out of the game, etc., are just some of the things "I" use all the time.

As GalacticGeek has mentioned, "Be forewarned however, it may take some time to learn exactly how to use all of the voice commands properly. ".

I say get it with it...

And egg is correct Vamp... talking into a mic and having that signal converted to sound is one thing. Having that signal converted to commands is a whole other ballgame

for those who say without it.. they either A: never had it calibrated correctly B: Said it is useless but never tried it. C: just really stubborn, stand with their arms crossed and stop their feet

 

...and for those who still think that voice commands couldn't be done without a Kinect... there's this magical thing called voice recognition software. I won't go into all of my devices that have this... phone, tablet,
pc's, blah blah blah. Astonishingly all that is needed is the built in mic or the mic one plugs in. A simple voice recognition app snapped could handle those voice commands.

Unfortunately as I've already stated, the game line up for a Kinect is beyond a joke considering Microsoft required a Kinect in the beginning of the One's life. This has forced some gamers to cling to voice commands as the great and wonderful thing that a Kinect
is needed for. Fortunately for those of us who do fine without them, there is now a choice.

 

Yeah... because I think it would be just awesome to have to hear all my friends barking commands through their mics that they wouldn't be able to mute. It would also be awesome for me to bark commands at my console via my mic and annoy the crap out of my
friends... rather than have the convenience of muting one while using a voice command to the other. Oh and I love playing SP games while having to wear a mic that I wouldn't otherwise use. Wait a minute, I think I like my Kinect even more now.

Anyway OP, I was on the fence about Kinect at first myself. I don't use it all that much anymore... but on the occasions when I do use it, which is mainly during games when I don't want to interrupt what I'm doing, the voice commands are very useful.

 

@Goth...I also have voice recognition on multiple devices, and agree that commands could be done with the headset or a simple mic built in. I also wholeheartedly agree "choice" is good.

never buy a Kinect game; and that would be alright, I got my value from voice commands and Skype.

Bottom line...O.P., if you got the extra money, get the Kinect version if you like the notion of voice control, want to play with gesture control (I do use this on occasion when bored! Lol.), or want to Skype in H.D..

P.S. Don't let Goth sway you against the Kinect because of this statement,"Some of her shoes cost more than her Xbox One!". How can you take someone seriously that would buy expensive shoes over chrome motorcycle parts? It's a slap to the face I tell you!

Agree with tohellnbak. Other people are still worried about the whole NSA thing. Theyve got better things to do than watch me play games. Remember laptops and cell phones have cameras too

It's not the mic that does voice recognition. It's the computer chip inside that is running a program to process what you say and turn it into text, commands, ect ect.

Just a microphone. Lmao go to a tech school before you try and act like you could make voice controlled systems with just a Mic Boom. Lol

 

I wouldn't get a X1 without the Kinect, for me it works 95% of the time and the IR blaster. But if you only plan on gaming with the Xbox, there isn't very much game support for it yet.

The XB1 with Kinect = The Full Experience. Personally, I wouldn't even think about getting the XB1 without the Kinect. Using the voice commands and gestures is just a nice experience, and really gives more to the next generation effect of the XB1. I still
love the fact of just walking into my room, and being auto signed in. I'm into my game/app with just my voice, while I'm around my room doing stuff, and I haven't even picked up the controller yet. Besides, there are some games that use the Kinect, and let's
not forget about Xbox Fitness, if you're into working out. = )
