xbox one with kinect. in a cabinet?

Hey everyone. My current setup is simple. Currently, I have an Xbox one sitting next to the TV, and the Kinect above the TV. The TV and Xbox are connected to each other by HDMI, and the sound bar is connected via optical directly to the xbox.

I want to put the Xbox into a cabinet below the TV, and leave the kinect above the TV. The cabinet isn't glass. It's solid wood.

Because the TV and sound bar are still visage and within range of the Kinect, the kinect will still be able to control those devices, but what I am wondering is if the kinect will still control the Xbox in the cabinet? Im not sure if the kinect controls/signals
the xbox through the kinect cable, or if it is done by infrared?

I'd just hook it all up to find out myself, but unhooking everything and routing all the cables is a huge PITA.

Xbox 360 Kinect games will not work with a xbox one Kinect.

The Kinects are different.

I am sure all information is passed along the wires... so you should be OK.. only the IR is in the air.. and needs to reach your TV cable box ETC

Communication between the Kinect and the console goes through the cable attatched to the console. You wont have any trouble there.

As a side note, make sure the console isnt too confined as in a small tight and closed space so it doesnt overheat due to bad air circulation.

Figured out the issues, but not sure how to solve the problem:

The Xbox and Kinect are in a cabinet, So when I close the cabinet, even though the Xbox and kinect can hear me and power on/off the xbox the tv and soundbar still don't power on. Even if I shut off the kinect and close the cabinet and use the controller
the TV and soundbar still won't power on. However, when the cabinet is open the Xbox is fully functional, when it is closed the xbox is still functional with voice commands and the xbox controller, the TV and audio just don't power on/off.

Thanks for posting about the IR blaster extension link - I never knew they worked with the Xbox One! I do have a question though?! It says to connect the IR blaster extension from the back of the X1 and then attach the other end to the box which you want
to control (it will be my Virgin TiVo which, along with the X1, both will be in the cabinet - the Kinect will sit on top of the tv outside the cabinet).

I still don't understand how the Kinect will blast IR signals to the X1 if the X1 is inside a a cabinet and the TiVo is as well?? Will I need to keep the X1 outside the cabinet, and the TiVo inside the cabinet so that the IR extension cable works?

The Kinect power lead exits from the back of the One so you should be able to route it the same as any other cable out the back of the cabinet. The Kinect doesnt need to have sight of the console.
