Xbox One Wireless controller

1 of our controllers recently started refusing to stay on. Fresh batteries and it says batteries dead. Put batteries in second controller and it read batteries as full. Both are updated, 1 is just reading battery life completely wrong, is there any way to
fix this?

Take the batteries out and do not plug the cable into the console. Leave it powerless for 5 minutes or so to make sure the power is completely drained from the controller. Replace with new batteries and test. Good Luck!

also take a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and gently clean the silver contact plates and the 4 gold colored pins that all connect to the battery then let it air dry for 15 minutes or so.

Tried both, still nadda. Finally got it to stay powered on, but it is still reading low battery ( even with fresh in) and now it is also pressing random buttons on its own. Come on, only 2 months old and gently used. =(

You probably mean the right thing, but the Xbox One does not use Bluetooth to connect controllers wirelessly, but a Xbox specific wireless communication protocol.

Since the console has this wireless protocol built into the special wireless module already, the Xbox One doesn't support the USB wireless connector.

Try the
suggestions in the Wireless Controller Troubleshooter here to hopefully fix your wireless controller issues.

Is this an Xbox One controller, or an Xbox 360 controller? If it's an Xbox One controller, are you connecting wirelessly to the PC via Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

If this controller was previously connected to the console but is no longer able to connect, you should repeat the connection process using the console’s connect button.
