  1. Xbox One Wireless Controller won’t connect

Hi lads hoping theres someone who can help me. 2 days ago my xbox said I needed to update my controller so I followed the instructions and plugged in my controller the the USB port all going well next thing it says my controller disconnected and it couldn’t
continue the update until I plugged back in the USB into the controller which had not been removed. Now my controller doesn’t work much. The sync/pair function on the remote doesn’t work and it flashes as if its not paired endlessly. I tried everything from
turning the console on and off, resetting it and trying different leads. So I picked up and old remote and it connected no problem first time and I believed the problem was my first remote until i tried to update the second aswell but got the same result.
So now my controllers will not work and the internet isn’t giving me much advice. Thanks for any help anyone can give its much appreciated

    :)

    Hi there Tim,

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I'm sorry to hear about the issue with the controller not staying connected to the Xbox.

I recommend to try the following article:

Controller won't sync to my xbox

Using a USB cable to connect-

Connect your controller using a micro-USB cable (included with all standard Xbox One wireless controllers and the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit). Standard alkaline batteries won’t be used to power the controller functions while you’re using your controller
    as a wired controller.

If you’re using an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 or Xbox Adaptive Controller, connect your controller using a USB-C cable (included with both controllers).

Depending on the type of controller you have, plug the micro-USB or USB-C cable into the power port on the back of the controller then plug the other end of the cable into your Xbox One. More details can be found
here on connecting your wireless controller to Xbox consoles: https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/controller/connect-a-wireless-controller

Cannot configure xbox elite series 2 in Accessories app

    • To configure the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, get the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (or later) and make sure your PC has the latest fixes.

      See how to get updates
      .
    • The Xbox Accessories app won’t detect your controller if you’re using Bluetooth to connect to your PC. Connect your controller using Xbox Wireless, or plug the included USB-C cable into the back of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and plug the
other end into your PC. For more info, see

can i use the usb cable to play? can the controller be damaged?

    Hey Vincent,

Yes, you can use the controller while connected to the console using usb cable. This won’t affect performance and won’t damage the controller. Using the controller wired of course means you don’t need to use batteries.

You can also update the controller while connected through USB cable.

Standard xbox one controllers require a micro USB cable. The elite series 2 and xbox adaptive controllers require USB type C cable.

Any questions, I’m happy to help 😊

    Charging controller

Connect your controller using a micro-USB cable (included with all standard Xbox One wireless controllers and the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit). Standard alkaline batteries won’t be used to power the controller functions while you’re using your controller
    as a wired controller.

Plug the other end into the front USB port on your Xbox. You could use one in the back also.
