Xbox One Wireless controller won't come on

I bought a brand new xbox one x in september as a birthday gift to myself. It was the all white version with the Fallout 76 game attached to it. It came with the xbox and the white controller. Since then, i haven't had much time to play my game system and
have stored my controllers out of sight. I recently moved and went to hook up my system and controllers. But when I tried to turn on the white one, it wouldn't come on. I assumed the batteries were dead and changed them and thought that would fix it. But it
didn't. I even thought I had the batteries in there wrong. So i got another controller and checked it to see how the batteries were in there and that controller powered on immediately.

So then after further inspection, I realized this controller was not mines. The condition it was in was atrocious. So i definitely knew it wasn't mine because I take care of the things I work hard for. I realized my younger cousin switched his used and broken
one for my brand new one and I never noticed until recently. Now I'm stuck with this controller and have no idea what to do with it.

Is there a way it can be repaired? I need a solution other than just buying a new one and throwing this one in the garbage. If someone knows, please inform me. These things are too expensive to just be given up on.

Hi,

If you're using Bluetooth to play wireless with the controller then audio won't come through the 3.5mm headphone jack. Nothing wrong with your setup, it's a hardware limitation of the controller.

To use all the features of the controller while wireless requires the purchase of an Xbox One wireless adaptor for Windows.

If he swapped his controller for yours, then it's probably for the same reason that you are having. I would contact your cousin in an attempt to retrieve your controller that you purchased. Your other options are to send it in for repairs here,
or buy a new one.

I'm sorry to hear that we couldn't get it working for you. If you're using a standard Xbox 360 wireless controller and not the one designed for Windows that comes with an official wireless receiver then it won't work with your PC. You have to have
the official receiver and that only comes packaged with the wireless controller designed for Windows.

I hope that helps clear things up! I know it's not the best of news but at least you can return the controller. =)

You are talking about the Xbox One controller, right? The Xbox 360 wireless controller won't work even if using a USB cable.
