  1. XBox One Wireless Controller on Windows 8.1 (wireless access HOW?)

I recently purchased (for ~$55) an Xbox One Controller from the local GameStop and I was informed that it was easy to configure wirelessly, which is the only reason why i went with this expensive controller.

This is not the case or am I missing something?

I have installed the latest drivers that were recently released for Windows 8.1 (x64) and the controller works great wired for all games without any hiccup which is excellent, however 50 dollars for a wireless controller that i have to used wired via USB is
    a huge disappointment.

Is there a special receiver i need to buy or is this controller restricted to wireless only on an Xbox One system?

    :)

  2. Xbox One Wireless Controller has no force feedback (rumbling) on Windows 8.1

I bought Xbox One Controller and played via cable sometime. Later I purchased a wireless kit and did an upgrade.

    VID_045E&PID_02D1 - Gamepad

VID_045E&PID_02E6 - Wireless Adapter for Windows

Sadly I found that in wireless mode there are no force feedback in any games. Was this feature tested with Windows 8.1? Thank you.

The Xbox One controller can only do wired right now. Wireless might become available in the future but nothing has been announced for it yet.

    Elite Series 2

Das bezieht sich auf die Nutzung des Elite 2 Controllers mit Windows 7/8.1 Betriebssystemen.

Eine Liste der nicht unterstützten Funktionen für Android und Windows 7/8.1 findest Du auf dieser Seite:

    https://support.xbox.com/xbox-on-wi...ller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems

    [Translation]

The "not supported" functions are in regards to Windows 7/8.1 and Android.

A list of what is or is not supported is on this website:

    https://support.xbox.com/xbox-on-wi...ller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems

For example, you can connect the Elite 2 Controller wireless via Bluetooth or Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 only on Windows 10. For Windows 7/8.1 that type of wireless connection is not supported.

Additionally connected controller accessories (e.g. the Chatpad) are not supported via Bluetooth. But are supported via Xbox Wireless Adapter.

You can listen to game sound through a headset connected to the controller only via USB or Xbox Wireless Adapter. But via Bluetooth only voice chat is supported. And on Windows 7/8.1 game sound isn't possible at all through the controller.

    Controller Xbox One - Windows 7 x64 - Wireless

Thanks for your answer, would like it to wireless but I can handle it :)

Does all xbox one controller have an usb C port to be connected or some are wireless only ? (Sorry about all these questions but never had an xbox one controller between my hand)

And I found 2 link on microsoft website about wireless connexion here they are, but in french (i'm on phone can't find them in English) but here's the translation of interesting parts :

    https://support.xbox.com/fr-BE/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-wireless-adapter-for-windows-compatibility

"The wireless adaptator for windows 10 has been made to be used on windows 10 only. The old wireless adaptator xbox for windows works on device running windows 10, windows 8.1 and windows 7. "

That's where I heard about the "old adaptator"

And I just found this link :

    https://support.xbox.com/fr-FR/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-one-wireless-controller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems

This is line 1, 2 and 3 of the table :

"Fonctionality : usb wired connexion : works on windows 10 and windows 7/8.1

Fonctionality : connexion via wireless usb adaptator for windows : works on windows 10 and windows 7/8.1

Fonctionality : connexion via wireless usb adaptator for windows 10 : works on windows 10, doesn't work on windows 7."

So seems like there is 2 wireless adaptator and one of them seems to work on windows 7 but they don't precise if it's for xbow one or 360...sigh now you understand why i'm so lost, 3 versions of the controller, 2 different adaptator, many software update...I
know the best is to switch to W10 but I never had a single problem on w7 and would like to keep it as long as possible.

    Thanks again !

Xbox One Controller to Windows 7 Connectivity issue

    Are your Windows 7 Updated?

    See that https://support.xbox.com/en-Us/xbox...roller-to-pc#5eaad24ecfa0476da13c8e12d375312b

Connect a controller to a Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC

When you connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC with a micro-USB cable, Windows will automatically download and install the drivers for the controller. If Windows is not set to automatically download device software, you
can check for updates through Device Manager.

    Update drivers through Device Manager

Here’s how to check for updates manually in the Device Manager:

    1. Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then select Search.
    2. Enter Device Manager in the search box, and then select Device Manager.

Note Windows may ask you for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.
    3. Locate and expand Microsoft Xbox One Controller.
    4. Right-click the expanded Microsoft Xbox One Controller and select Update Driver Software.
    5. Select Search Automatically for Updated Software.
With Xbox Wireless or USB connections, you can connect 4 Xbox Wireless Controllers at the same time. You won’t get audio through the controller so there’s no need to connect a headset. Bluetooth connections are not supported.

    Notes

    • If the controller doesn't respond, try a different micro-USB cable.
    • To use your Xbox Wireless Controller with your console after using it with a PC, you must re-sync the controller to the console. You can do this by using the wireless sync button or a USB cable. For details, see Connect
a wireless Xbox One controller to your console
      .
    • This information applies only to Xbox One Wireless Controllers. For help with other gamepads or joysticks or for information on configuring a specific game so that you can play it with a controller, refer to the manufacturer’s website.
