    Recently my controller for an Xbox One stopped working as it should. None of the controls except for the pairing and power buttons work, all of them are unresponsive. I have tried power cycling the controller and the console without any success. I have tried using a USB cable which was also unsuccessful. Other controllers work fine with the console so it's not a console issue. The controller has been treated well and shows no signs of damage, the buttons/sticks aren't stiff or stuck at all. I have tried everything I know to do.

    I don’t like to give bad news but could be a hardware issue

    But before concluding that. May I know if you tried connecting the controller to a different device?

    Like another console, a phone or PC
    And besides power cycling the console and using a different cable. Did you tried something else?
    This is to avoid giving you the same troubleshooting steps

    I have not yet tried connecting it to a different device. And no, I have not tried any other methods for troubleshooting.

    Yes. The controller works perfectly with the USB cable. The issue has been resolved with a software update.

    I have now tested it with a PC and it works just fine when connected with a USB cable. It is possible that the issue could be with pairing and the other USB cable was simply broken.
