Xbox One Wireless Controller modification (old version)

Hey all,

I have started an Xbox one controller modification to customise it more to my liking and personality. I know there is now an Xbox design lab, but this is not available in the UK, as far as I know. Here is a list of mods I am making:-

Full strip down

Full colour coded button and thumb stick swap

Removal of rumble packs in base and triggers

Full outer shell custom spray paint job

Adjustable Scuf trigger stops and FPS grips

I have taken photos of work in progress shots and will update on this thread as I go. This has been a real learning curve for me and mistakes have been made. I am sharing this post in case anyone is thinking of doing anything similar and would like to ask
any questions.

*I would like to add that my controller is out of warranty and I would not suggest dismantling or modifying any controller as his will invalidate your warranty.

£35 from shopto new version with 3.5mm jack IMO much better than the old version

Xbox 360 wireless controller for windows 7

Hi,

I need to get an adapter and new wireless xbox 360 controller to hook up with windows 7. Will an old xbox 360 wireless controller be compatible with the latest version of the adapter? Is this all I need to hook up my controllers with my pc?

Well yes, that's a preferred option for those that have it available. But for those without Design Lab, we have to improvise and get creative.

I've got an authentic wireless controller and I'm using the corded adapter.

Hi,

Wireless Xbox 360 controllers are always wireless. You can't make them wired with the Play and Charge adaptor. The Play and Charge only charges the battery or powers the controller if no battery is present, it doesn't send data, hence the reason for all the lights flashing and no connection.

The only way to use a Xbox 360 wireless controller on PC is to buy a Xbox 360 gaming receiver and it must be the '360 receiver' as the Xbox One version is not compatible with the old Xbox 360 controllers. With the receiver present you can sync the controller via wireless to the PC.

Just did the wire modification and my tangos work amazingly. There is also a wireless modification but I am fine with the one wire.
