    Xbox One Wireless Controller Extender


    With the new Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows, does anyone know if this will be compatible with the actual Xbox One console itself?

    I find that the the Xbox One Wireless Controller distance is far inferior to the previous Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and as such my Xbox One Controllers constantly disconnect to the point that they are unusable in large rooms where the Xbox 360 Controllers
    handled these distances with ease.

    I am hoping that by running a long USB cable and connecting it to the new Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows via a powered USB hub, that I will finally be able to use these Xbox One Wireless Controllers over similar distances to the original Xbox 360
    Wireless Controllers and maintain a stable connection.

    Does anyone know if this will work, or if not, has anyone figured out a solution to this issue yet?

    Did MS design Xbox without this key feature the 360 had?

    I hate the design of the Xbox one controller so I'm using my 360 controller, CronusMax, and a Xbox wireless extender. Hence, I cannot use any headset unless my Xbox 360 headset will work if I plug it into the controller.

    Can wireless adapter be used with the Xbox One to increase controller range?

    I've got my Xbox One in another room to my TV and as the Xbox One Controller uses direct wifi to connect its range is severely limited, so I'm right on the limit of the range and my controller disconnects itself one average every 2 - 3 minutes. If I were
    to use the wireless adapter on the Xbox one with a USB extender, would that allow me to extend the Xbox Controller range?

    Hi there Rashford.

    If this is something you're still experiencing, we're afraid there is no range extender for Xbox One wireless controllers. However,

    controller disconnections     can occur for a variety of reasons.

    It sounds like you could be too far away from your Xbox One console and/or experiencing wireless interference with that other equipment you mentioned. More on that can be found via Solution 5 of the guide we sent you above.

    The wireless adapter has a limited range. If you are using a desktop computer use the USB extender to get the wireless adapter as close to your controller as possible.

    Thanks for your post. Wireless Extenders are great tools to extend wireless connectivity in a household to connect devices that do not require much bandwidth. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Xbox One certain protocols can not be supported by extended
    thus causing issues when connecting to Xbox Live with them. A possible option to this is to implement a separate Access Point near the Xbox One for maximum wireless strength or use a wired connection. To further troubleshoot this check out:

    Hi,

    If your controller disconnects frequently from the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, this is typically due to environmental issues, such as no line of sight (between the controller and adapter) or a heavy amount of interference, such as from metallic objects.
    Try these suggestions to improve the connection between your controller and adapter:

    • Make sure you're within optimal range of the adapter (6 meters or less).
    • Use the USB extender to bring the adapter closer to your controller.
    • Ensure you have good line of sight between your adapter and your controller. Use the USB extender to help if needed. For these two devices to talk successfully, they need the most unobstructed opportunity to do so.
    • Move the adapter away from metal and do not set it directly on a metal surface.
