Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter

Hi,

I'm wondering if I will be able to use the Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter coming out this fall to extend the wireless range of my Xbox One controller. I currently have all of my home theater gear tucked away in a closet with a single HDMI cable running
to the TV mounted on the wall. Unfortunately, the wall the TV is mounted to is brick and really kills the wireless signal coming from the Xbox One to my controller. I was wondering if I could route a USB extension cable from the Xbox One through the wall
(same location as the TV) and plug the wireless controller adapter into the other end. Will the Xbox one recognize the adapter and know what to do with it? I think this is a common problem for people fortunate enough to have a media closet who experience
frequent controller disconnects due to the Xbox one not being co-located with the TV. This architecture would be VERY VERY attractive for many Xbox One owners.

Xbox ONE controller with Xbox 360

If I own an Xbox 360E and an Xbox ONE wireless controller with a wireless pc adapter can I connect the Xbox ONE controller to the Xbox 360 through the pc adapter?

I would REALY like to know this too. All my AV kit is in another room in a dedicated cabinet with my Xbox One. The cabinet is about 10ft away from where I sit on the sofa and there is one brick wall and one false wall between. At the moment I am stuck with
a USB cable over cat5 to connect the controller to one of the USB ports on the Xbox. Having to use a cable on a next gen console when only being 10ft away is a bit of a let down. The 360 never had this issue. More and more people are installing centralised
AV cabinets to hide all this kit and horrible cables, get with the times! Sort it out Microsoft.

Is this an Xbox One controller, or an Xbox 360 controller? If it's an Xbox One controller, are you connecting wirelessly to the PC via Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter?

Incidentally, I checked on the page where one buys the receiver, and it says that it works for *any* wireless Xbox controller, so that shouldn't be the issue either.

Can you point us to the page so we can see which wireless adapter you bought?

Due to a change in the wireless protocol, Xbox 360 and Xbox One use a completely different "language" to talk wireless.

So unless a third party created a wireless receiver that can talk both protocols, I'm afraid the Xbox 360 controller will NOT work with a Xbox One compliant wireless adapter.

It might be, that the page says that you can use "any" Xbox One controller with the Adapter (e.g. standard wireless controllers, the Elite wireless controller, the wireless speed wheel, etc.), but you will NOT be able to use Xbox 360 accessories with a Xbox
One wireless adapter.

It is recommended to use Microsoft Wired Keyboard, as wireless adapter for keyboard will interfere with Xbox One's internal wireless adapter for Controllers or WiFi, and Xbox One does not have drivers for keyboard wireless dongle.

Observe how the copy says:

With the new and improved Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10, you can play your favorite PC games using any Xbox Wireless Controller.

Note that it says any XBox Wireless controller. If it only works for XBox One controllers, that is, at the very least, misleading.

It appears that I will have to avail myself of the "hassle-free returns" policy.
