Xbox One will show my External HD in storage but when selected it tells me "No Devices ...

Hello, I'm just curious about my Toshiba 2TB 3.0 external HD not being recognized. It shows up under storage and when I plug it in I get the "Hold the Home button to access" but when I press it or click into if from the storage it goes straight to the "No
Devices Found" screen. I have another external HD that is made by Toshiba and is only 1 TB, and that one works just fine. I've done a lot of trouble shooting and as far as I can tell they both are the same. They both are made by Toshiba, both have all the
exact same files on them, they both are 3.0, they both are not encrypted, they both are formatted in Texera NTFS and both are MBR. The only difference is one will be recognized by the xbox and one will not. Thanks for the help!

Thanks, but I've tried these codes last night to no avail.

Support insists on repairs. Recovering the 4gb memory would cost the same as a 250gb-320gb hard drive though, and apart from that problem the xbox works fine. In which case the I'll hope it only stays a software problem.

Hopefully this simplifies a bit without derailing from the problem: Update made 4gb internal memory disappear as storage device.

It seems as the device is faulty before we make sure thats the case please connect it to a P.c or an Xbox 360 and reply back here if it is being recognized on the devices. If the device isn't being recognized i'd recommend returning it and see if you can
get a (You Do not have too it's just a recommendation ) Seagate External HDD since it's a Microsoft made product and support users have more insight on it since it isn't thirdparty.

Thanks for the reply, I have checked it on both my PC and my MAC and on both it shows up and I am able to add/edit files. Thanks for the recommendation and if there is nothing else I can do then I'll look into getting a different HDD.

Hi, try formatting the hard drive on your PC and then connecting it to the Xbox, Ensure you use a windows based PC.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. You can make sure the external hard drive is formatted correctly. The way it is formatted sounds like it is set as a media device. If this is an Xbox one the external device has to be formatted to NTFS.
You can format the external HD on the PC. You can also format the HD on the through the Xbox as well.

If you cancel formatting when you connect a storage device, you can set it up later:

Open the guide and select System> Settings >
System > Storage.
Select your device, and then select Format for games & apps.

Could it be that Microsoft knew this would be an issue and decided to make you to pay for their external storage when you reached your small HD limit?? Time will tell. Show me the money!
