Xbox One will not Turn On

Hello, i was just recently playing my Xbox one About 2 hours ago, i walked away to do chores and such and came back and it would not power on, the power strip is plugged in and flashing white, the fan in the Xbox is still spinning and i can't get the power
button to light up or even beep.

    :)

I unplugged everything, but the surge protector earlier. When I unplugged the surge protecter it worked. Not sure why, because I was getting power. It is fixed and that is all that matters. Thank you for your help.

Unplug the power from the back of console and let it stay out for 5 minutes. Plug it back in securely then try and see if it will power up. Good Luck!!

Xbox One will not Turn On

Hi Frost! There are a couple of things here that I need to ask about - when you went away, did you tell the system to power off, or are you saying it turned off on its own while you were away from it?

Also, you say the "power strip is plugged in." Is your system plugged into a Power Strip/Surge Protector? If so, you absolutely will need to unplug it and use a wall outlet only. The power brick has a built-in surge protector, and by plugging it into another
strip basically puts two layers of surge protection between the console and the power coming from the wall. This chokes off power that is much needed by the system (which actually has very specific power requirements during startup.) Over time, this can cause
extra stress on internal components as they struggle to get the power they need during startup routines, which can actually ultimately cause the system to fail. (This was also a leading cause of RRoD on the Xbox 360.)

If you are already plugged directly into the wall, you mention that the "white light is flashing." Is this the white light (xbox logo) on the console, or the white light on the power brick? If it's the power brick, this is odd behavior, as it doesn't usually
flash on and off. If it's the console, usually this means the system is in the process of doing something in the background. It usually won't take very long, though.

If it is the console logo flashing, how long has it been flashing? If it has been a very long time, I would recommend holding it down (even though it isn't beeping) until it goes off completely, then waiting for the light on the power brick to turn orange,
and trying to power up again. (If it won't do that at all, you should move to the next step, unplugging entirely.)

If the light on the power brick is flashing, this is usually a fault of some sort. I would recommend unplugging it from the power source AND the back of the console and leaving it for 5 minutes (this allows the internal surge protector on the power brick
to reset itself.) After this time, plug it back in (to a wall outlet, not a power strip) and try again.

    Let me know!

Yes, it was plugged into a Power strip and i've unplugged it and the white light was indeed flashing on the power brick when plugged in, and Console logo was not lighting up or even making an indication it was on

Okay, well, that's number one - it definitely shouldn't be plugged into a power strip - you said you've unplugged it - did you also unplug from the back of the console? If not, please do that, and then, have you tried plugging into a wall outlet now, to
see what happens? It could just be that one outlet on the strip went bad from pulling too much wattage, or that the system and power brick were having to work too hard to draw enough power. I'm hoping that plugging straight into a wall will resolve the issue.

If you plug into a wall and get the same results (flashing white, or no light at all) then the next step is going to be to try a different power supply - do you have any friends or family that use Xbox One? If so, you could borrow their power supply and
try using it in place of yours. If the console powers up, then there is a problem with your power supply, and you will need to report it to Microsoft Support for service.

If you try someone else's power supply and STILL get no response, then, to me, that sounds like a problem with the console itself, and unfortunately that, too, will need to be reported for service.... :-(

Okay, well, I hate to say it, but it sounds to me like the power supply has fried. You will need to contact Official Support to request a repair. :-(

I'm going through the same thing. Took the console to GameStop, where they had power supply I could hook up to.

    Hi sic176,

It could be either actually, but sounds like a power brick issue honestly. If you have a friend or family member with an Xbox One, I would take my Xbox to test there. That would immediately tell you where the issue is.
