Xbox one will not Recognize DVD or backwards compatible games

I have been trying to trouble shoot this now for a while with no success. I have tried multiple dvd's and 360 backwards compatible games that the system will not recognize. I receive no error messages what so ever, have done a hard reset, have done a console
reset and a complete factory reset. I can put a game in the system, hear it slide in but beyond that I don't hear the drive itself start to even attempt reading the disk.

As the others already stated, make sure that the Xbox 360 game disc you're inserting is actually backwards compatible, as not all Xbox 360 games are playable on the One yet!

For a
list of backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles check this list here. If the game is not on the list, it won't work on the One.

Since the Xbox 360 game discs are based on the DVD format, try to play a DVD movie disc on your console. If the movie DVD disc isn't recognized either, it might be that the red laser of your Xbox One console is defective, and the drive has to be serviced.

I have had a issue before when I put the disc in it sounds like its scraping edges

it wont sound any different really, the motions will be there just wont be able to read the dvd.

xbox has always been able to play dvd discs fine.
