Xbox one will not play DVDs

Discus and support Xbox one will not play DVDs in XBoX Games and Apps to solve the problem; I have two Ones, neither has EVER b en able to play a DVD.     Xbox one will not play DVDs


    I have two Ones, neither has EVER b en able to play a DVD. It's a known issue that they don't seem concerned with fixing. I've tried over 300 discs. All correct region, mastered discs, discs that play in a 360 and PS3 just fine, and support says "it must
    be your discs that are the problem". I've hard restarted, factory reset, cleared cache--everything. The app does not read DVDs. After a two hour chat session with support, they said "there's nothing I can do about it". And ended the chat. Hung up on me. When
    will the app actually do what it says it does?

    Yes, Xbox One can play both Blu-ray and DVD movies. No HD DVD

    Weird problem with xbox one

    So anyone else xbox one just not want to play any Xbox one games at all but will play normal dvds just fine? I put a xbox one game in and get the grinding noise but with a dvd it doesnt do that.

    Same here, just tried to watch some Seinfeld and it goes well until I select episode, it will show the copyrights warning text and then just black screen and nothing... used to work but some update broke this...

    Xbox One DVD flicker and aspect ratio!!!!!

    I have the same problem with DVD playback, however, it's only on DVDs recorded on a toshiba DVD recorder. Bought DVDs play in the correct aspect ratio on Xbox one, but recorded DVDs play in 4:3. However, on every other DVD player, they play in widescreen.
    On Xbox 360 I can adjust the aspect ratio in settings. I cannot find how to do this on the Xbox one.

    Each Xbox One console is manufactured for a specific Blu-ray and DVD region, following international standards. The Xbox One console can play Blu-ray discs and DVDs that are sold in the same region as the console.

    Some Blu-ray discs and DVDs are not region-encoded or are coded to all regions. Region-free Blu-ray discs and DVDs will play on any Xbox One console.

    What DVD are you trying to play? What prevents you from playing the DVD? Did you make sure that the DVD matches your region, and isn't imported?

    All 200+ DVDs and BluRays in my collection work perfectly fine on my Xbox One X as well as my old original Day One Xbox One.

    Problem reading discs

    Exchanged the Xbox at shop I bought it from, it played one DVD so I thought great but no same problem when I tried another one yesterday and the DVD plays fine in the other Xbox, PS3 and DVD player at home and a Xbox s at someone else's home!! Needs sorting!

    again, Please give us HD DVD support for use on Xbox one

    You would need an external drive to play HD-DVDs, as the Blu-Ray drive in the Xbox One cannot possibly read the HD-DVD format. Since HD-DVDs are no longer being made, I'd say it's extremely unlikely that HD-DVD support will be added to the Xbox One.
