    Xbox One Will Not Install Disc Game


    I got Little Nightmares 2 for the Xbox One quite a while ago. It got uninstalled because the external hard drive it was one stopped working, from what I understand, so I wanted to go and re-install it. Whenever I insert the disc, the Xbox makes a few noises sort of like a printer, then nothing happens. It doesn't even register that it has a game in the tray. I tried inserting the disc of another, already installed game, and although it told me to clean the disc, it launched the game on the second try. My guess is that this can't be fixed, but has anyone else had this? If so, is there anything I can do that might help? My brother is looking into getting a compressed air duster (i think) to clean the inside of dust, but besides that. Thanks so much for reading!

    You haven't stated if you are using a Xbox 360 or a Xbox One. If you are trying to install on a Xbox One, then the whole game installs without the need to install the 2nd disc. If you are using a Xbox 360, then you do not need to install the discs.

    Thanks for your post. To clarify, are you asking about games on the Xbox One or Xbox 360? A game disc acts as a license to a game, on the Xbox One, the disc allows you to install the game data to your console, even though it is installed on the console you
    will still need the disc in your device to launch the content.

    Are you using a disc to install? If so why not try installing the disc offline first then apply updates after.

    Using Xbox Offline

    Once you have installed the game from the disc without a network connection, reconnect and update your game through My Apps & Games.

    Hoping this will work if it is a disc based install :)

    like for some reason, I can’t play Xbox one game discs cuss they won’t install. I can only install and play Xbox 360 game discs and games that have been installed from the store.
