xbox one will not accept files streamed from pc

I am connecting to my pc, I have setup media sharing, i try to click play to, I select my xbox, it says connecting and then nothing happens, ive tried leaving it in media player, leaving it idling.

it never plays any of the files that I send, even ones that i have confirmed will play using my external hd.

what is going on?

It worked, thank you.

So just to clarify in case someone else has the same question - you have to accept the party invite via the Xbox One App on the PC, not on the Xbox One that is being streamed.

Stream video from PC to XB1?

Hi, you need to open windows media player, then click Stream, then More Streaming Options & add the Xbox-SystemOS to allowed in there.

Once added you can then select what you want to stream from your PC by right clicking the file, then select play to option to stream to Xbox-SystemOS.

Some additional points. I have a Verizon MI424WR router. Both XBOX One and PC are wired. I can stream pictures and videos using xbox one media player from my PC but when I click on a music file it indicates no files found. I can stream music on my XBOX
360 from my PC using the music player. I looked at my antivirus (MS Security Essentials) and Windows firewall is on but I don't see anything that would only block music to the xbox one.

Corrected when trying to stream music on my XBOX One from my PC using media player app, I do this because playlists are also playable, the music files are no longer found. Video files and picture files are still able to be streamed. I am wondering since
the add of music to onedrive and xbox music did they remove the ability to stream music with media player. on another note the media player on the One is awful compared the players on the 360.

Ep 7 = Ep 7

Ep 8 = Ep6

Ep 9 = Ep 9

rest of season is fine.....

Streaming from surface rt same issues as mentioned above.

download episodes from a win 8 pc no issues with the whole season.

try to stream downloaded files to xbox same issues as mentioned above. conclusion Streaming from pc to xbox does not occur as one should think.

Ok, so a bit more investigation shows that despite the digital media renderer driver error, once the Xbox One has been added as a device on your W7 PC/Laptop it will still stream video and music...

.

You need to have the appropriate app running on your Xbox One - Xbox Music or Xbox Video - then right click the item and choose "play to" and select your xbox one.

Some formats don't seem to be supported and sometimes it seems a bit random as to whether it accepts a format/file or not... I managed to stream a video, when trying the same file a second time it said it was "unsupported", a third attempt said it was fine
again... that's technology for ya though.
