Xbox One will no longer connect to the Internet

Hello! I bought an Xbox One around January. At the time, I had no issues setting up my wireless network to include my Xbox One. I used to be able to get online regularly between my Xbox One and my Xbox 360. The only issues I had with my network while
the two systems were running is that my router moved my Xbox 360's NAT type to Moderate. My Xbox One also had a Nat type of Moderate, but on the X1 it has never been "Open." I've read that with both systems, on certain routers, the NAT type will be moderate
for both systems, so I didn't try to fix it in my router.

Flash forward to about two weeks ago. My power went out during a storm while I was gaming. No big deal, usually happens around here. I reset my surge protecter so everything would boot up again. My 360 powered up and connected to the internet fine. I
didn't boot up my X1 at the time because I wasn't playing it. The next day, I tried to hop on my X1 with some friends, but my X1 wouldn't connect to the internet. The set-up screen said "Can't connect. Check your network name and password and try again."
I typed the WPA Key in two different ways (one with the hyphens, one without), but the X1 would not connect to the internet. All of this is happening while I'm on my laptop, connected to the same internet, and sitting on the Dashboard of my 360 connected
to the same netwrok. I went as far as the "Unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and try again" screen. I managed to do that, and it did nothing for my X1. For the record, when I unplugged my router, my 360 and laptop went offline,
and came back on and connected just fine when I plugged it back in. I didn't worry about it too much when my X1 wouldn't connect because I don't "need" it to play online for the games I have.

Well, with Destiny coming out in a couple of weeks, I decided I should try and get the X1 back online. All of this time in between, I've been playing my X360 on Xbox Live and connecting to the internet without any problems on my end, but each time I fire
up my X1 it spits the same error message at me. "Can't connect. Check your network name and password and try again."

I've tried following the post stickied at the top of this specific board to no avail. I've tried forwarding my ports as per PortForward.com. I've tried setting a static IP to my X1. I've tried to set up a new connection on the X1 (same problem, the "Can't
Connect" message). I've tried to reset my router back to factory defaults to no avail. Xbox Support (the one on the internet, I haven't called yet) runs me in a circle that doesn't help. The only things I haven't tried are 1)Setting up my entire network
    again 2)Putting my X1 in the DMZ as I've heard that's a pretty big no-no 3)Buying a new router.

After reading through some posts on here, I can answer these as well, No, I do not have MAC Filtering on. I don't even have it enabled. I double checked this today. Yes, I'm sure I entered the WPA2 Key correctly. I took my 360 offline (if it matters,
my 360 has the internal networking device and not the external one that you had to buy way back when) and re-entered the pass phrase on there and it still connects. I've tried entering that pass phrase with and without hyphens, with letters where numbers
would be, on different networks, all kinds of things. The only thing that seems "odd" to me is when I go to my "Network Map" in Windows 7 on my laptop, my X1 doesn't show up. I can find it under "Network Devices" but its grayed out and won't allow my to
do anything other than right-click on it.

I realize this is a long shot and the issue is probably unresolvable, but I thought it'd be worth a try.

What Country/State/Province do you live in? Missouri, USA

Modem brand & model number: Cisco DPC3939

Router brand & model number: Linksys WRT120N

    Wired or wireless: Wireless

Things you have tried: Xbox.com Support, re-setting router, static IP, re-setting modem, enabling and disabling UPnP, adding my x1 to my network map in Windows 7, probably some other stuff

    Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown: Yes

Do you have a NAT error? If so, what is your NAT type? No NAT error, but when I play COD: Ghosts on either system before crash it said "Moderate" for both, still says moderate for the 360 when I play it on there.

Any Error Codes you encounter: No codes are provided, only "Can't connect. Check your network and password and try again"

Who is your ISP?(Internet Service Provider): Comcast

Suddenly can no longer connect to the internet Xbox One will no longer connect to the Internet :(

    Nickholl,

What the restore did was reset the default network settings to normal so that everything would be set automatically on your console. There was most likely some kind of mismatch between the router and the Xbox, but now that everything is automatic, it works
    fine.

Also, setting a Static IP is just an IP Address that does not change on its own. It requires getting into your router's settings and most everything would be there already, set to Dynamic. For most things a static IP is not needed.

Aha! Just clicked 'restore to default settings' and now it works! (Via Ethernet anyhow)

Will try via wifi as well.

Not sure what changed in there, but seems to have done the trick Xbox One will no longer connect to the Internet :)

    Thanks guys

Whew. You did quite a lot trying to fix it but unfortunately most of it will not help fixing your problem, as nearly all you tried only work if already connected to the router. If not connected to the router nothing like Portforwarding or DMZ is working
at all. Always prior to this you must be connected to your router.

Let's go into some details first:

running both consoles at the same time is mostly causing problems like moderate NAT on both. So best way is to only use UPnp on your router as you then do not need to change anything when switching between the consoles. Better is to use DMZ on the active
console. But then you have to change the DMZ host each time you switch between the consoles. But that only in general, it will not fix your actual problem.

    To solve your actual problem:

    1. Reset all done settings in your router regarding DMZ and Portforwarding to avoid problems as you may have misconfigured something trying to solve your problem.

    2. Do a wired connection to reset the WiFi connection and to check if the One is connecting to your router.

    3. If the wired connection works try to configure the WiFi connection again. Please type in the wpa key as displayed by your router. Exactly as displayed. Remember also that is case sensitive. (If not sure about your wpa key you may set up a new one, but
this has to be configured on your other devices then, too, so be aware to not lock out yourself.)

If step 3 worked after having the WiFi adapter resetted, fine, your done.

    If not:

    4. Do a factory reset on your One.

(Be aware that all you installs have to be installed/downloaded again. Your savegames usually are synced and stored in the cloud so they can be resynced, but as you had no connection to the cloud lately please be sure to have step 2 done and that your One
connected successfully to xbl, so the savegames could be uploaded.)

Hope you get your connection fixed with this steps.

To sum it up for further assistance if this does not solve it: your problem is not the configuration of your router, but a problem with the WiFi configuration on your One.

    No longer connecting to Internet?

You can not connect your Xbox to your internet via Ethernet through your laptop. The port on your laptop is to be plugged into your router or cable modem if you what your laptop to have a wired connection. If you want your Xbox to be wired, then you need
to run the Ethernet cable to the port on your router or cable modem.
