Xbox one wifi disconnecting constantly

Did anyone ever get a solution to their xbox disconnecting from WiFi? This has been an ongoing problem in my life for a few years now. I go round in circles, end up playing with router settings I do not understand and give up. After a while (usually a few
months) I forget I had WiFi issues, turn it back on, it works for a couple of weeks then the issues creep in again until it just stops working all together... again!

It works fine wired, but I don't want wires all over the room and if I fork out for a new xbox and give this one to my son he will have the same problem.

Please tell me someone has found the problem and can explain in layman's terms!

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support. I am sorry to know about the disconnecting situation, but I want you not to worry about it because I am here to help you out! I believe your console might need either a network reset or just a system refresh.
I would like you to go through the following steps to clear the Mac address and then perform a quick power cycle on your console:

Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

After going through the troubleshooting steps mentioned, I invite you to perform a quick power cycle by turning off the console and then unplugging all the cables. After 2 to 3 minutes, re-plug them back again, then restart your console.

Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500
(UDP).

In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you
to sign in to the account.

Have you tried connecting the console to a different frequency or changing the wireless channel?

Try changing the frequency from the 2.4GHz to the 5GHz and vice versa.

I have watched many YouTube videos and read on many forums and support pages that it
might be caused by interference. With so many wirless devices around us, this can become a problem.

I've also solved this on a friends console by changing the wireless channel on the router. If you know how to do this, give it a go and consult your router manual. If you don't know how to do it, consult an IT specialist.

So yeah, give it a try (If you have a dual band router - 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz)

yeah I just got the Xbox one x. My first console had WiFi hardware issues. Was fine until Christmas morning when it just didn’t connect ever again telling me I had a lan cable plugged in.

Now on my second system, but have same issue as you. Keeps disconnecting from WiFi and having to hard reset to fix it. Prob once a day at least. Given all the problems have gone unaddressed, I actually consulted an attorney for a class action lawsuit.
Hopefully this issue a patch to fix this.

im having same issue my X1X is lagging on WiFi. Even went to my ISP and got a new modem, swapped a spare router using ASUS decent router cant remember model name. My launch OG X1 has ZERO PROBLEMS. Same with Ps3 and 360 consoles...

I don't know what to do. My X1X is still under retail warranty at bestbuy for another 12 days. I might have to return it for a new one and test it.
