Xbox One why isn't Full shutdown working when "instant on" is off

my main issue with this is when I use the turn off Xbox funktion when holding the guide button the consoles harddrive or discdrive(hard to hear which one it is) is still running. It is the same when just pressing the guide button and going to the right using
turn console of.

I feel like it should always be a "Full Shutdown" when Instant on is disabled.

Xbox One X in instant on mode has fan running

Hello,

when my xbox one x is shutdown, using instant on mode, the fan stays running. Eventually it may turn off. The xbox is well ventilated, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

I usually use full shutdown mode, but last night I left it in instant on mode as it was downloading games. At 11:30am the fan was still running. I checked and nothing was downloading.

Any advise welcome.

Make it easier to switch between standby and energy saving

I find myself always switching between "Instant On" and "Energy Saving". Sometimes I want a short break, other times I want a full shutdown. The only workaround I've found to partially mitigate this is to go to Settings and do a "Full shutdown" from there.
But this isn't as convenient as it could be. I don't think I should have to manually switch "modes" every time - why can't it be like PS4 where you get the option between "Rest mode" and "Off"? Why does Xbox make it such a pain to switch between them?

It'd be better if the "default behaviour" for "Turn off console" was replaced by two separate options when holding down the Xbox button: "Full shutdown" and "Standby".

There should be a third option when shutting down from the console, but at this time there isn't. You can always add that feedback/suggestion to

Until the option is added, the only way to do a full shutdown is from the console itself. The steps are

Full shutdown is the same as energy saver. A full shutdown completely disconnects the power. It is off
off. In the instant on puts it in a low power mode that allows it to be resumed within seconds, where a full shutdown requires the xbox to reload the Operating
system. I hope this helps

You can select either energy saver mode, which is a full shut down every time you turn your Xbox off. The full shutdown option you have highlighted should be used to reboot the console if you need to when its turned on.

The other option on the drop down is instant on, which is a hibernate mode.

But isn't "Restart now" rebooting?

Try going to Settings, Power, Restart Xbox. This will perform a full shutdown, instead of the hibernation state that a normal power down in Instant On mode will cause. If you aren't in Instant On mode, or if that doesn't work, in Power, go to Turn Xbox off,
and then unplug the power cord from back of the console for 5 minutes. If it still doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall the game.
