    I have been wondering if I use the option to watch cable through my Xbox will I always have to turn on the Xbox One to watch television?

    Hi buddy you have to have the xbox one on to watch live tv through the hdmi pass through

    On your xbox one.

    So to answer your question no it isnt possible to use the hdmi pass through to watch live tv without your xbox one power on

    Regarding the last question. The following video mentions being able to say Xbox on and have the Xbox One, cable box and amp turn on using the IR blaster in connect, so hopefully it will work through HDMI for switching inputs.etc.

    Can I view TV On My Xbox One without a Cable or Satellite connected?

    I'm not an admin, but I can confidently tell you you'll not be able to watch TV without cable or satellite. The way it works, is you have a cable box and run that to your Xbox One. Then you run your Xbox one to your TV. Basically your cable transfers
    through you cable box > xbox one > your TV. If you don't have cable and a cable box hooked up you won't be able to watch TV.

    Your only watching what you already receive through your cable subscriber...if you don't have a cable or satellite box, and don't already get the NFL games you won't get it through the xbox one.
