Xbox one was supposed to be having the 4k ability but instead you came out with a new one ...

I wanna know why the Xbox one wasn't offered an update for the 4k ability like was said in the sales adds when it came out. But instead you guys had to come out with another console and charge us $300-$500 more like you guys don't make enough money off us.
Not to mention the hard drive is bigger in which the Xbox one should have started at 1TB considering the games are mostly at least 50GB. Plus the blue tooth in the new one why doesn't the Xbox one have a blutooth ? It's like everything the Xbox one should
of had is in the new version while a lot of us are stuck with the old version and can't afford to go out and pay another $400-$500 on a new system. I just feel like I got ripped off buying the Xbox one and I'm sure many others do to. The sad thing is I'm all
about Xbox I can't stand PlayStation I don't like their controllers the console menu set up or there online system to many hackers plus I don't think the graphics are as good but if this is how Xbox is gonna keep doing us I might have no choice but to go to
PlayStation at least they have put blue tooth in their consoles even in the PS3 they had blue tooth plus their PS4 has the 4k ability even the first ones cause they didn't half *** their console just so they could make a new one with the stuff people wanted
and make another $400-$500 on a new console that had the abilities that the first one should of had in the first place. I'm just very disappointed with Xbox right now it's sad you guys have gotten that greedy.

    :)

  2. Anyone else not get headset in box?...

I just bought an XBOX 360 S with Kinect Sensor Bundle (the one with the 250G Drive). The Quick Setup guide has a "What's Included" listing of what is supposed to be in the box. Everything is there except the Headset, which is pictured in the lower right
corner. Just wondering if others out there are in the same situation.

    PROBLEM-Xbox One S 4k UHD Disc

I received my new Xbox One S two weeks ago and I am happy (cough cough) with the product. Hooked it up to my new Vizio M70-D3 4k hdr TV, and the quality, features, and contents included are superb. I bought the Halo bundle, played Halo on it (looks
great), then bought Assassin's Creed (played great). The youtube, netflix, HBO go apps come in top quality and look amazing on my tv through the xbox.
Sidenote- Why hasn't Vudu updated their microsoft app to play 4k hdr movies, when vudu have included it on their google cast app (built into tv).

HOWEVER, my problem is (completely aggravated by this) when I play 4k UHD blu ray discs, the screen will black out for a second or more, audio still running (sometimes), then the picture comes back. Sometimes when watching a movie it will not happen until
10-15 min into the movie, sometimes it will happen sooner, but whenever it occurs it will continue to do the same thing unless I stop the movie. Even if I restart the movie, the problem will persist. Even if I turn off everything, eject the disc and restart
everything, the problem will occur. I have 3 4k uhd movies - Deadpool, Superman v. Batman, and Mad Max. All movies discs will play fine (therefore my problem is not what some state here---some uhd discs not playing, for me so far all the movies will play).
But the problem will happen with all of them, the screen will black out randomly for few seconds, so you will miss the scene being shown. i have read on xbox support forum and other forums that this problem is persistent with the xbox on not just the Vizio
tvs but also others. I know people have informed Microsoft support about this problem from the initial release of the xbox one s. I also know that this is a xbox problem and not with the Tvs. If you look at this forum years ago, you will find that the SAME
EXACT PROBLEM is discussed by people when the xbox one was released. So therefore when that product was released, the problem occurred on 4k Tvs. Knowing this, Microsoft should have had this fixed before releasing Xbox one S, especially since Microsoft took
a direct shot at the new playstation for not having 4k playback capability.

I spoke with microsoft support, they told me to try to reduce the resolution of the xbox to 1080p with ability to play 4k hdr, they said having 4k on my tv and my xbox may be causing it to try to play 8k quality. WHAT THE HECK? But I tried their suggestion
and no luck. Still had the problem.

EXCUSE ME Microsoft, can you please fix this once and FOR ALL? More and more people like myself are now buying 4k hdr TVs. I bought the xbox one S after seeing the value in the product compare to buying a true 4k blu ray player. I am not a gamer, last game
system I played regularly was Nintendo 64, BUT I am a big movie buff. For that reason I bought this xbox, and thought that having the games and extra stuff combined would be a great addition to my theater room. So far with the xbox I am 50% happy because the
main reason I wanted it was to watch uhd discs. Definitely wondering whether it would have been better to buy the Samsung 4k blu ray player.

I am posting this because if anyone is wondering about doing similar purchases towards a new entertainment system set up, BE AWARE of this problem. Maybe it will be less hassle to go with the 4k blu ray player.

But all in all, I am hoping, wishing, praying that Microsoft will fix this problem soon, or many systems will be returned, including mine. This is kind of embarrassing for Microsoft knowing that this SAME EXACT PROBLEM was acknowledged by them when the old
xbox one came out. For now I will use the VUDU app built into my Vizio Tv which plays 4k hdr movies just perfectly.

  4. Xbox one was supposed to be having the 4k ability but instead you came out with a new one ...

the standard ps4 and the ps4 slim have no 4K abilities, when the consoles released back in 2013 barely anyone had capable 4K tv's so there was no point having 4K on the console although xbox did release a firmware update last year that allowed 4k streaming
i believe, they havent ripped anybody off, its just natural progression of technology stop being such a cry baby about it.

  6. But surely if you purchased an XB1 when they launched you were happy with what it offered? If you wasn't happy, no 4K etc then why did you buy it?

Also you must realise that as time goes by we see upgraded models like with the Xbox Slim, slim models, bigger hard drives, cheaper price etc

Sorry not having a go but I never quite get why people get upset when things move on. Scorpio releases in around a year from now, 6 months, 1 year after when we see price drops, bigger hard drives, maybe slightly improved performance it will start all over
    again.

I think it's good that they've upgraded the console slightly. We're not missing too much without the upgrade anyway. I'm still extremely happy with my day 1 console. Sorry you don't feel the same way.

Xbox one was supposed to be having the 4k ability but instead you came out with a new one ...

I saw the comment around Xbox 1's launch too:

"Xbox One supports 4K resolution (3840×2160) (2160p) video output and 7.1 surround sound.[51][62][63] Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy for Microsoft, has stated that there is no hardware restriction that would prevent games
from running at 4K resolution.[62] Unlike the Xbox 360, the Xbox One does not support 1080i and other interlaced resolutions. Xbox One supports HDMI 1.4 for both input and output, and does not support composite or component video.[35][51][64]"

    Xbox One search, Wikipedia

Xbox 1's hardware I think isn't enough to run games native in 4k. Especially when you only have a 1.75Ghz APU, and 8GB DDR3 RAM with a mere bandwidth of 68GB/s and when only 5GB of that is available for gaming.

  9. Haha my T.V. isn't even big enough for 4k to even really make a difference. Pretty sure the Bluetooth really isn't that big of a difference unless you're planning to game from down the block and was for pairing to computers like Genchy said.

I'm perfectly happy with my console. It works, it plays the exclusives I want, gives me the free games with gold I want, has the backwards compatibility I want and the Kinect that I don't really want. Plus I got a 1TB hard drive on sale for $20 so I have
1.5TB of storage space easy for not that much more than original cost.

I may be a little biased because I didn't have to pay for mine but honestly they are just releasing a newer updated version of the console. I'm not really sure what's to be upset about. They didn't flat out lie to us like the developers of No Mans Sky over
on PS. They said it would support 4k video output and it does.

They said there is no hardware restrictions that would prevent a game from running at 4k. Which I'm sure is true. Just, if I tried to run a pc game in 4k on my surface 3 it would suck. Wow it's in 4k running at 2 frames per second. It's probably same for
the original Xbox one. You can try and make a game in 4k, it would just be horrible at putting it on the screen. Hence the new upgraded Xbox that supports 4k and HDR which really wasn't a thing when the xbox one first came out.

then go to the ps4/pro, you will get upscaled 4k on some games not all, have your bluetooth and an updated console which is mediocre at best. the original xbox one was advertised as supporting 4k but mainly for the dash, not games etc, and now companies
are using HDR10 not just normal 4k then it will not support this.

  11. I'm no AV expert but from what I read, the standards changed. When the Xbox One (and PS4) hardware was finalised, HDMI 1.4 was the standard, now it's HDMI 2.0, and while 4K is easily possible on HDMI 1.4, it has its limitations. Mainly HDMI 1.4 only supports
4K video at 24fps and 8-bit colour. HDMI 2.0 on the other hand has a bigger bandwidth capability and supports 4K at 60fps and 12-bit colour. HDMI 1.4 is locked in hardware, it's not possible to update to 2.0 with firmware.

Even with that limitation, there is also the case of HDCP 2.2 copy protection, which the streaming services use as do UHD Blu-ray. I understand this is also built into hardware. The original consoles don't have this either.

But, like I said, I'm no expert.

  12. If anybody into 4k and now have bought at least a 60" screen - which Cerny at Sony strictly recommended to make a difference - well, maybe you can pay up for a console as well.

I read a lot of forums posts on internet that seems to think their graphics is not crystal sharp and a lot of details because resolution is too poor with 1080p. It's compromises due to cpu to render even 1080p at 60 fps that you have to cut down on that.

Those that think - if I only get 4k it will all be good and crystal sharp details all the way - is going to be disappointed.

What Scorpio probably will be able to do is produce 1080p with no difference than pc do now, and some headroom on that too. That is what I am hoping for. I don't plan for anything 4k in my home.

Yeah, at the point they put 2.0 as the standard as well as the other stuff I knew we would not see 4k on the launch One consoles. I guess they could allow some 4k playback. I actually used 4k on a 1.4 interface for a while on PC and it worked well enough.

An odd thing I read is that "4k is a waste unless you have a large screen". And generally they are talking something like 50" or larger. I cannot say that is true. I do no the best eyes and I can easily see the a big difference on a 40". And honestly
my cell phone looks better than my previous one. Higher screen resolution makes a small difference 1080p->1440p on that small screen.

The issue for 4k is that there is not a lot of 4k content. It is increasing but without 4k content you get scaling and that can make an image appear "soft". My TV does a great job of scaling but I can see a big difference between things in 1080p and the
    same in 4k.

I think the hardest thing in the gaming realm will be native 4k. I can play native 4k on my machine but not always at 60fps. Then again, I did not pay a lot for my GPU comparatively and it is amazing in 1080p and 1440p. It is decently more powerful than
what the PS4 Pro has so there will have to be compromises at 4k. The Scorpio is going to be near what I am getting so I could see them hitting 4k a lot easier at much better fps and better visual quality. MS should be able to get that at around $500 retail
and possibly $450 but we will see. That will be the first big push for 4k content in console gaming.

    The OP is right.

I'm not sure why people are so quick to defend Microsoft on their backtracking.

When the ONE was released it was billed as "Futureproof".

It was said that it was supposed to last the next 10 years.

But Apple have become rich drip feeding tech to the masses so why shouldn't Microsoft?

Look at all the people queuing up to say "It's OK... Hey Microsoft, pull my pants down next... please"?

Just like with Apple you need the next gen console as much as an iPhone 6S user needs an iPhone 7.

Sure you can be the first to own the tech, but we've barely tapped into the XBox ONE's true potential and already people are ready to drop it faster than "Recore".

^ Time moves on and the tech market is probably one of the fastest and most fluid sectors of all, if MS didn't move with the latest tech and offer it to the marketplace they would lose out to others. Its not exactly rocket science. This console has been
out three years already and by the time the Scorpio hits then almost five years so I don't see the issue. As for the Xbox S its not a great deal different from when the 360 slim was released, the 360 went through a few upgrades during its cycle so again
    I don't see the issue.
