So let me preface. Other than a Wii, I haven't owned a gaming console since a Nintendo back in the early 90's. I bought my 8&4 yr olds this console for Christmas. Let me say this has been the most confusing, frustrating, and disappointing experience I've
had in a long time. I'm fairly computer savvy, and would never had expected what's gone on so far. I set up individual profiles so my kids can have their own "experience", and put them in the "family". This is where the problems start. It constantly saves
or plays under my profile even though we start it under another. For example when my son tries to play Batman 3 for instance, we made sure I was out of the room, and under his profile. He and the 4yr old play for an hour or so, and try to save it. He comes
    back later, all slots empty.

I've spent hours going through the profile settings trying to find something that can right these issues. I don't understand why it's so difficult, and why the profiles switch. Can I not watch them play w out the kinect detecting me and assuming I'm playing?

My possible solution is to delete their profiles and use mine, but doesnt that defeat the whole purpose?

do I really need to sign up for every game vendor? Trying to start Madden w/out an EA acct is ridiculous. I just want to play an effing game. Haha!

maybe this is a vent post, but maybe someone has an answer I'm missing.

    thanks!

oh, did I mention the buttons started sticking after a couple hrs on one of the controllers?

    :)

The quality control on the xBox One is horrible. Merry Christmas to my 2 very disappointed kids. Even 1.5 of Microsoft online chat fell far shore of resolving the issue.

  3. Netflix Update on XBOX ONE

He's right, the Netflix app now is a horrible experience on Xbox One. I don't have kids, why should I be prompted every single time I load the app? I just want to get to my shows.

  5. We bought one of those holders to mount the kinect on the TV and it came with a camera blocker, so we use that when not playing kinect games.

@ RecalledMocha that's very cool. I didn't know they even made those ( had not checked).

I have my 2 sons on X1 with their own accounts and kinect set up. I often walk in and it detects me yet it still knows that my son is the active player and doesn't switch ownership. Most games reboot also if a change in profile is detected.

I have never had the problem you are describing. What game/games is this happening with?

You can turn off your Kinect sign in under your privacy settings. Do this for each profile and it won't try to sign you in automatically AND you can still use the Kinect for other things. XBox One w kids. Horrible experience so far ;)

I've had my Xbox probably 8 months and have two profiles set up, myself and fiancé. It will say hello to hear when she walks into the room but it has never signed me out and her in. Seems weird. As has been mentioned, just unplug the kinect, or at least
    put something over the camera.

Me and my son both have xboxs, when the xbox in the living room was on it would detect him and sign him in with kinect without problem but still keep me playing, the bad part was when it did this it signed him out of his xbox, the solution was simple, just
    switch kinect sign in off.

Don't turn kinect off, sort the way you sign in an out.

Publisher linking games with there gaming accounts isn't new either,

Make sure everyone cleans their hands before using a controller.

  11. Pretty sure if u designate YOUR profile as HOME, and dont designate theirs at all as anything, they can sign in on their own and use ur games. Disconnecting kinect may help, but is not compulsory...

  12. Aside from Enen, I feel like I'm being ignored here. You DO NOT need to turn off your Kinect - simply change your sign in settings so it doesn't sign you in with the Kinect. That's it! You can do that by going to your profile-specific privacy settings. Sure
it means you'll have to sign in manually, but you can still use the Kinect for voice commands, even to say, "Xbox, sign in as [insert account name here]."

Exactly what Galactic said. I have two xbox ones set up this way and have ZERO problems when my kids use my xbox one and not my Home xbox and also when kids use home xbox. (both have Kinect)

Listen to what GalacticGeek wrote. Also, games like Madden (or any game made by EA) and anything made by Ubisoft are going to require you to sign in to their own crap servers. Welcome to 2015 gaming.

  15. your problem is your blocking the kinect. if your kid is using the controller and the kinect sees him it'll go under his account. If not you have to manually tell the console its him playing because how else would the console know?
